Menu has changed from the last time I came here. Not a lot on the menu now unfortunately.

Reasonable pub grub. Good sized serves at reasonable prices. Very nice bistro area that is also kid friendly. They have good value kids meals that don’t just consist of a cheap pizza or nuggets and chips. Good selection of beers, and ciders on tap along with a variety of good wines to chose from. They have special theme nights such as chicken wing nights or salmon and prawns. The atmosphere is casual. Nice place to meet up with friends. The only downer is the lovely beer garden not unlike many other pubs gets filled with cigarette smoke during busy times.

Good food but abit pricy for my liking. Free pool! Kids eat free from monday to Thursday which is very smart way trying to get people in. I like the atmosphere of this place so its shame its not as busy as it could be.

NOTHINGSPECIALABOUTTHESPECIALS We ate here last night and were left unimpressed. My partner ordered lamb shanks which were described on the menu as two, served with mashed potato, he received only one. after we waited half an hour for the food. He questioned the waitress and was given excuses ranging from«It’s state of origin night’(not sure HOW that affects their advertised meals), to «the chef gave you a big one». .Splutter…excuse me? One lamb shank is NOT what it says on e menu. A manager was sent to deal with it and did not offer an apology, said it would take 20 minutes to cook another one. my partner, understandably angry by this stage, asked for his money back and it was refunded, but without genuine regret at having ripped us off! It was just placed on the table. POORCUSTOMERSERVICE in my book. I ordered Rosemary chicken from the specials menu and I can only describe it as paltry! Pun intended! The portion was a joke… menu said chicken thigh. and to be honest it should have been advertised as a budgie thigh… barely bigger than the wing drumsticks that accompanied it. all in all, a very disappointing meal and no way value for money. Can’t see us eating there again.

Hyde Park Hotel use to have a really awesome menu. But the last two times I have been there(both within about a month of each other) the menu has been drastically cut. And the serve a chicken parma with fettuccini… I’m sorry, but that is just weird. What happened to good old fashioned chips and salad?

A-OK. Hyde is nothing super special, but if you’re local to the area it’s a nice spot to grab a cheeky drink or bite. Their food portions are extremely generous so that’s always plus. Their chicken burger was well stacked and filling. I particularly enjoyed the fact that they used brie instead of a run-of-the-mill cheese. My partner seemed to love his parmigiana and once again, instead of regular cheese, they made it with feta. They seem to hold a lot of fun events and their Thursday Wing night caught my eye. I’ll definitely be back on a Thursday to indulge in this wing fest extravaganza. Overall, a nice joint. Decent food, typical wine and beer list, and on par prices.

We had food here on Friday night before an Irish white collar boxing event in the Italian Club. The food was probably the worst I have had in my two years in Perth. Our order was a club sandwich — plastic«meat» and terrible presentation and Lamb koftas with pitta — pitta was so hard it was actually sharp to eat. I just can’t think of any redeeming features. This was our 3rd time here the first twice was when we arrived first and we enjoyed the food. Won’t be going back again.

We visited the Hyde Park Hotel for dinner on an extremely quiet Monday night. Upon entering the near empty bar, the barmaid told us the kitchen closed at 8:30pm, but we should probably order as soon as possible as it was likely to shut earlier. Fortunately, a Monday night special of buy one main get a second for half price, made up for the rushed ordering. There was a good selection of craft beers, and a choice of 150ml and 250ml glasses of wine. A pint of Feral Sly Fox was $ 10.50 and a large glass of wine was $ 12. The mains we ordered came in massive portions, with the chicken parmigiana($ 24) being much bigger than I expected. Contrastingly, the«hot cheese» entrée was very small, to the point of being overpriced. Essentially it was $ 16 for four miserable balls of deep fried cheese and small dishes of tomato sauce and mayonnaise on the side. Other items on the diverse menu included a vegetable filled filo pastry and a pork and fig burger. All the mains we ordered we of a good size and quality. The service was fine, but with the place being so quiet, anything less would have been unacceptable. I’d go back to the Hyde Park Hotel again for a meal, as long as the midweek specials(there’s a different offer each day) were something I could use, as it’s a little overpriced to make a special trip out for.

Well well well it seems as though the Hyde Park Hotel has redeemed itself! Last time I came here, my friends and I had a very bad experience,(particularly me) but when coming here this last Sunday with my boyfriend and another couple for a Sunday feast and drinks, we had an excellent time! The other couple got the Hydey Burger and Fish and Chips to share and myself and my boyfriend got the Hydey Burger and the Jamaican Chicken to share. Both were delicious! I especially loved the Hydey Burger with smoked cheddar mmhmm! It was quite quiet for a Sunday but our waitress was very attentive and helpful and our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. This was the case last time I came here too, the wait staff were lovely, it was just the Management that was awful! All in all I left feeling good and not disgusted like last time!

I have had a two really good experience at Hyde Park Hotel and one bad one. I went there with my partner for the first time and we enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine, hot chicken wings and a hydey burger and had a great time there. My partner then decided to do his birthday dinner there with around 20 or so people. One of my friends found a live bug in her salad and after going to the staff to point this out they were quite rude and dismissive about it and only offered her a free glass of wine to make up for the bug– not even a free meal! I was pretty disgusted by that as usually anywhere else you find something in your food they are quick to rectify the issue and offer a free meal in return. We all left annoyed and most people commented that they wouldn’t go back there… however I couldn’t help remembering the other time I had gone there and how good that had been. So on the weekend me, my partner, and my friend(who had the live bug in her meal) and her boyfriend decided to give it another go and, although she was very hesitant, she wanted to try it out again as well. We were pleasantly surprised. We ordered two hydey burgers which are sooooo tasty, they have a huge slice of smoked cheddar inside and delicious patty. We also got the fish and chips and Jamaican chip, both of which were really tasty too, and had no hidden surprises! It was a fun way to start up our Sunday and my friend definitely had different ideas of the place when we left! I am only giving it three stars as I still think back to that bad experience we had there but it is a really nice place, the food is tasty and the service is usually good as well!

The Hydey used to be the go to place for local hip hop & punk gigs. It was grimey and gross and we loved it. The new owners have taken it upon themselves to transform this into a pretty generic coles/woolworths pub. The décor is tacky, the food bland & overpriced, the atmosphere? there is none. I visited with Stephanie B, a fellow reviewer when she received the dreaded bug in her salad and witnessed what was probably the worst customer service ever. no apologies, all that was offered to her was replacement chips. what? we have both posted negative reviews of this place on urbanspoon in the past(obviously before we discovered the joys of Unilocal) and they were taken down almost immediately. It shows the power that big business can have. I would avoid if you are after food, but if you just want a quick beer it may be sufficient. Do yourself a favour and walk up to the Rosemount or even into northbridge there are so many better pubs & bars out there.

I’ve eaten here several times now and the food has been good every time. I don’t hesitate to come here for dinner. The restaurant is nice and the staff are good as well.

My first visit to the Hydie since its mega face lift and it wasn’t bad. The venue is nice enough with a cool outdoor area for diners which is where we positioned ourselves. We had been lured here by the promise of cheap, delicious and plentiful chicken wings, and eat chicken wings we did. The special Thursday only offering goes something like this, $ 10 for half a kilo or $ 15 for a full kilo… yes the meal is promoted by weight. Brilliant :) The wings were good, not mind blowing for me, but they were good and for the price how can you complain. You get to choose from Ranch or Blue Cheese dipping sauce(I went with the latter) and also determine if you want them dresses in spicy BBQ sauce or some nuclear chilli bomb. Now based on the nasty display I had to witness in the mens bathroom(in summary an Indian gentleman who clearly couldn’t handle the heat and was neck deep in the basin covering his head in water and coughing and spluttering something along the lines of ‘oh maaaaaaaan, jesus maaaaaaan. My face is on fire’, or there abouts, very unpleasant) I’d suggest avoid the nuclear chilli option. Another plus was the drink prices, specials on beers($ 8 pints of Coopers) and spirits($ 7 spirits with mixer). Summed up not a bad experience but not mind blowing either. Good for a look if you’re up for a casual affair.

My first time here was several weeks ago for a friend’s birthday dinner. Upon arrival, we headed to the bar and had a couple of drinks. They didn’t stock Red Bull so I had to have«Mother» with my vodka instead. Tasted similar-ish so it wasn’t a big deal for me. There were about 40 of us and we had the set menu for $ 27.50/person. This consisted of pumpkin soup, choice of salmon or rump steak and raspberry swirl cheesecake. The pumpkin soup wasn’t creamy enough so that was a disappointment. I ordered the crispy skinned salmon and it was cooked well, but lacked flavor. The rump steak came out a little overdone and dry(they were all supposedly cooked medium even though the menu stated«cooked to your liking»). Thank goodness the cheesecake was delish, especially since dessert is THE most important part of any meal! :D I’ll have to go back another time to try their regular menu. Or maybe just stick to getting drunk…

I truly like Hyde Park Hotel for the reason they have tried and ultimately, succeeded. Again, I can’t speak of what they once were and how it is unfortunate that«big business has taken over». This is all baloney. This bar/restaurant is legit, whoever is behind the closed curtain. Creating a brand featuring a logo, marketing collateral, deals every day of the week… Lets be honest, this place gets it. And, with ample seating(outdoor + heat lamps, indoor, benches, seats, family-style), new decorum, and clean bathrooms… what more could you want? Oh, food… Do you know the last time I’ve had wings? Who knew Hyde Park was offering them by the kilos? As a Southern girl, I give them«E» for«Effort». It isn’t the real McCoy, but even as a tribute, I’ll eat my own kilo thank y’all very much! And, please don’t skimp on the bleu cheese and celery!

It is very hard to rate the Hydey. On the one hand, appearance-wise it has come a long since it was a dark bar with notoriously sticky carpet. On the other hand — the Hydey has lost its rough charm, where eccentric barflies would gaze from their corner of the pub to the local band playing on an impromptu stage [basically, the space between the bar and the door]. Nowadays, the Hydey is indistinguishable from any other slick, modern bar in the Northbridge/Perth area. Gone are the eccentric barflies, replaced by the hip and well-dressed. The Hydey of old carved out a reputation as a live music venue for original artists. The new Hydey has made half-hearted attempts at continuing this tradition, but… well, it’s simply not the same. It is hard to feel the visceral energy from bands while perched on neat stools.

Hyde Park Hotel is the kind of place to go with a group of friends for after work drinks, or on a Saturday night to get nicely drunk. It does decent food and prices are pretty average, and it’s got a good fun vibe and welcome atmosphere. Right now Hyde Park Hotel has a deal for its very yummy raspberry cheesecake — $ 4 per serve or $ 6 with coffee. Totally worth it. Hyde Park Hotel also plays good live music and has an open mic night on Thursdays. It’s definitely a place to try if you’re after a friendly and fun night out.

The Hyde Park Hotel was once renowned for being a dingy dive bar and a crowded place to see some great local music. Located on Bulwer Street and easy to get to from the city, it made for a great meeting place for a mid week drink. While the latter may still be true, the Hyde Park is now an elegant, spacious bar with a full menu, an outdoor area and a far less dingy area where the bands can play. I thought I would sample the food while I was there, because I can’t say no to eating. I ordered a chicken and vegetable pie, which was home made and surprisingly tasty. The sauce was the hero, some sort of mustardy concoction which brought the whole thing together. My father ordered a Fisherman’s basket and ate it like the hungry fisherman that is it’s namesake. Needless to say, he thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was a little slow, but the young man that served us was very friendly and did his best to cater to our needs. Nothing exceptional, but definitely a solid place to grab a beer or a meal.
