This is without doubt one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten in. An authentic cuisine with a home cooked style. A very good and diverse menu with some traditional dishes made very well indeed. The place is on the small side and they do tend to pack everyone in so it does get a little squeezy at times. The service is second to none and prices are reasonable given the quality of the food.

Amiconi has an old-world authenticity to it that really stands out in comparison to the tourist-trap phoniness that you’ll find in most of the Italian restaurants of Lygon Street. Indeed, it was this sense of authenticity that had the restaurant feature heavily in season one of Underbelly(something that the restaurant owners are quite proud of). The food is around $ 30 for a main, which is slightly more expensive than most other local Italian options, but the food is so much better! There’s no frozen marinara mix in Amiconi’s pastas! Everything tastes fresh and of high quality. The menu is simple and traditional, but the food is impressive. The stakes are particularly good!
