Stopped for a coffee. My husband also had a muffin. All was great. The service was excellent. We were given a sampler taste of a delicious red velvet cake with a lovely cheesecake topping.

Delicious coffee and slice! Love the old photographic equipment. A gentle stroll in along the river completes a serene experience. Ahhh!!!

This place is our local, and serves up yummy coffee and a range of sweet treats. Recently S+B was sold to new owners, and while the quality of brew has stayed consistent I’ve been a little disappointed with the customer service. I’m not sure if this is their first foray into the hospitality industry, but the friendly atmosphere that the old owners created was the best thing about this place. If the new crew can work on being a little nicer to their clientele they’ll be back onto a winner!

Really good looking coffee shop. Menu is very limited and options are not commonly found on a café menu so that was a let down. Coffee was delicious.

I’ve followed the intriguing Shutter & Brew on Facebook since they opened at the beginning of the year and have constantly tried to organise myself to get there. A combination of café and photography this little suburban gem is small and tucked away in a leafy and quiet street. The inside is decked out with a good array of seating options, including a very good window bar area which is perfect for me when I’m on my own and love looking out and zoning out for a while. The styling is rustic but stylish, with splashes of the prettiest blue which matches the colour of the coffee cups. The coffee is one of the best of had, the food a mixture of home-made and locally sourced and the owners so wonderfully friendly and welcoming. I’ll be heading back ASAP. I was reluctant to review this little gem, I want to keep it a secret!

Glorious hipster Geebung! I never thought I’d be writing those words but here we are.(Yes yes I know technically its Wavell Heights but whats two streets between friends…) However, here we are with a hipster café in our pocket of suburbia. The coffee is great and all the stuff in the cabinet is made on premises. Definitely try the banoffee tarts! They also sell cold press bottles for hot days. The owners are lovely and they sell a range of locally made sauces along with some photography gear/prints if you’re into that stuff as well.

Shutter(photography) & Brew(coffee) is brand spanking new and surprisingly open on today, New Year’s Day. Clearly we weren’t the only ones impressed with this discovery because as we arrived at around 10am, this compact café was already bustling with punters. If I lived on this sleepy suburban street, I’d be fairly smug to have a café like this a stone’s throw from my front door. Wavell Heights isn’t a suburb I associate with a café this cool but here it is — pouring Cleanskin Coffee, Mork Hot Chocolates, bacon rolls and small eats like yoghurt, cakes and banana bread. There’s gallery space for budding photographers(which you can buy to adorn your own walls) and sometime this month they’re launching the Shutter portion of the business, one-on-one photography classes($ 35 a class). It’s a beautiful interior — rustic with modern twists and flourishes of blue. There’s shelving with retail goods like branded falcon ware mugs, bracelets made from camera lenses and even cold press coolers. The seating is limited and we perched ourselves on the last two available stools overlooking the street. It’s counter service and our coffee arrived shortly after we sat down. I knew the blend of coffee was good(Cleanskin’s No.14 and Saint make a beautiful milk coffee) but the execution lived up to the quality with it being a brilliant first coffee of 2014. Sadly, we didn’t grab any of the bacon rolls on offer but this might just be one suburban café I do make my way across town for to visit again!
