Being Italian owned and operated you know the pizza and pasta is going to be great. Woodstock has great food. Fast friendly service that makes u feel like you are in Italy.

Quaint family run place that feels like it hasn’t changed in the better part of a decade. Two decades? Hard to say. It’s a timeless kitsch Italian-restaurant decoration that defies accurate dating. You’ll order a pizza here from the youngest cousin, who will shout it back to her Uncle, nodding at her nonna as she walked past. They’ll have what you think is an argument, but then ends in a familial hug. Eventually you’ll get your food. I’m not complaining though. This isn’t a place to dash in and out. This is where you sit and watch the family and other patrons interact. The pizzas aren’t the best, but pretty good. Tasty, thin-crusted, quite traditional. I wouldn’t be crossing town, but if you’re in the area a place to try.

I have one problem with Woodstock … I can no longer enjoy gnocchi any where else! My partnet tavels to Melbourne every other week and for the past year has made this place his offical checkin. Finally, over the Australian Day weekend(2012) I got to Melbourne as well and was dragged by the scruff of my neck. Now this place ain’t nothing fancy(the back part resembles a mess hall), but all this doesn’t matter once the food comes out. It was home cooked delicious and very filling. We had about seven dishes(between the two of us) as my other half just had to get me to taste everything, and it was all great. BUT, the Gorgonzola Gnocchi is a treat. The famiy who run the business are a delight and very calm(for restaurant running Italians). Apparently Dad is from the south and Nona from the north. If you have time and want to try something new — do this place.

Woodstock Café serves authentic Italian pizzas and pastas, the kind you’d expect an Italian grandmother to make. The homeliness is visible in the atmosphere and the food. The entire family seems to be around — ordering and serving food — it’s definitely a family run establishment that is also family friendly. For our meal we ordered a pizza and pasta to share. The pizza was the authentic thin crust pizza with minimal, but great ingredients. The pasta was a special that tasted like it came out of an Italian home — something you could almost cook yourself, but done at Woodstock a bit better. The wine list was average, but affordable. Our meal came to around $ 55 with mains and beer/wine. Overall, the experience was good, except the food was a bit slow coming out. Don’t come here if you’re in a rush or are starving, you’ll leave not liking the place because the kitchen is a bit slow.

Woodstock Café is one of those places that some people will absolutely love and others will hate with a passion. I was recommended to eat here by my Italian barber who said it was the closest thing to authentic food from the South of Italy. It’s pretty oldschool as you are greeted by Nonna, checkered red table cloths, a terrazzo floor and an over the top Italian décor. The food is expensive but really tasty. The special meatballs we had were incredible. The pizza took a while to come but was pretty good. It’s a family run business and the service is somewhat slow. I imagine in a large group it would not be the best. But in a couple it would be ok. Slightly pricy compared with other Italians but nevertheless the food is tasty.
