Walked past at 8:30am and saw a small crowd waiting for coffee, so I joined the queue and got me a rockin’ Vietnamese iced coffee. Brilliant! While I was there, I took a photo of a cappucino on the counter with 3D latte art!

This café with outdoor umbrella-shaded seating reminded me of some of the western-style cafes I’ve been to in Vietnam and Cambodia. We found a little table in the shade on a very hot day with a pot plant and an ashtray on it, and then went to the counter to order coffees(they make Vittoria coffee, which I know from the heavy branding throughout, including on the umbrellas). The coffee came swiftly and was fine — not awesome by any stretch, but a good version of what you’d make at home perhaps. I don’t know whether it was just being in a Vietnamese run café on a scorching day drinking coffee under an umbrella that transported me back to my Asian holidays but that’s what it felt like — those times in Asia when you’re dying for a western style coffee and wander into a place like this, decked out in basic department-store style furniture with little plants around, usually filled with other white people, as this place was. Over there, you feel like an idiot for being such a tourist, but here, for whatever reason, it’s nicely nostalgic.
