This is one of those pubs that if I were in Adelaide I would be more than happy to go out of my way to visit, especially on a sunny day. The beer garden is nothing short of fantastic, and it certainly has had a huge facelift since the time it was your standard corner pub. The atmosphere has changed dramatically and it is much more of a trendy inner city pub that your local suburban watering hole. Okay, it is not the cheapest place to go for a meal, but it has this really great atmosphere and it is certainly quite a relaxing place to enjoy a beer. In fact when I was doing some night course as the Bible college around the corner I would regularly stop here for a drink, and sometimes even drag my friends here afterwards for a bit of a night cap. This is certainly a place that I would recommend.

Always great food! The schnitzel is always tender and cut correctly, being a Butcher i notice these quality marks. Well recommended. Also full table service is always nice in a classy setting. :)

good dining/lunching place. has many different seating areas to choose from — patio and sit down dining area, lounge and bar. anything you feel like in other words. it’s on an expensive side but the food is good. not so vegetarian friendly but make sure to ask for the special of the day as it might be vegetarian. they also have a menu with indications what is veg, gf etc. polenta with mushrooms dish was delicious!

I ate lunch here with a couple of business associates, and perhaps because I had heard that they had«done the place up» I had higher than usual expectations. Honestly, I could have shut my eyes and been anywhere. It is all just the same old ho-hum cookie cutter pub fit out and menu. The décor is trying to be something is really isn’t and it is out of step with the clientele that I saw there that day. Now some people value this sort of safety — to know what you are going to get. Me, I like a bit of surprise and delight, and I see this establishment as a great opportunity missed to spend the money on the refurbishment to create something that really adds to the culture and amenity of Unley Road. And though the décor was pleasant enough and it was obvious that they were trying hard to reach a certain kind of effect, at the end of the day they missed badly, and there is something missing at a deep level that brings all the elements together in a cohesive manner. The food was competent. The service was nice. They will be successful I am sure, but for me the phrase that kept coming to mind was«nothing to see here folks, please keep moving along»

The Cremorne looks great, and everyone seemed to be having fun. But gee it’s loud. So just wait a sec’ while I put on my nanna cap for a minute. I was at the Cremorne for some farewell drinks the other night. It looked great, they poured huge gasses of cider, and I was with good company. Unfortunately I couldn’t hear a word anyone was saying. The thing is, no one was dancing, in fact no one seemed to be paying much attention to the music. Did it really need to be so loud? Maybe we should have been in the Beer Garden, but on a 6º night that didn’t seem like a too fun option. Maybe it’s just that I suck at multi-tasking, and can’t hold a conversation while loud music on, but hey Cremorne… this nanna would love if you turned down the volume just a tad.

Like most nightspots in Adelaide, places flourish and fade pretty quickly. The Cremorne is just another trending spot. There’s nothing wrong with that though, it’s only natural I guess. I’ve enjoyed most nights here, although there isn’t really anything spectacular or different about the place, it’s just another fun drinking spot. Some people say it’s pretentious, I think they may be half right. The food is pretty good, though I rarely eat here. It is quite close to where I live, so getting home is never hard — a big plus, which means more booze allowed. Woot.

I feel like a naysayer as yes the Cremorne has got a funky, upmarket feel since its tizzy up, but for me the best thing about the place is the interior design. I particularly like how the setting sun shines through the starburst patterns of the floor to ceiling iron fence facing Unley Rd. Other than that you can expect to see the latest fashions, spray tans a plenty and very nice physiques of both sexes. And there are big-ass tellies and the latest commercial hits playing, but no discernable dance floor if you’re so inclined(which I am). The beer garden is completely open to the main bar area so you can look forward to your lungs filling with second-hand smoke if you stand too close to it. For me it’s just another renovated hotel with no unique characteristics. In a nutshell — same shit, different pub!

Wonder where the crowd from the Hyde Park Tavern disappeared to? You’ll find most of them at the Cremorne. People love to check out the latest place and let’s face it, a place has more charisma when it’s full of people. While the food and drinks here are great, I think what is most attractive about this place is the fact that if you show up on a Friday or Saturday night you’re guaranteed a crowd. It’s been open a while, but has maintained its numbers, which is a sign it’s doing something right. I had birthday drinks here December 2010 which was a great night out. We managed to nab a booth which 20-odd friends(comfortably seats 6) spilled out of while we drank cocktails and snacked on a few yummy platters. I’ve also been to a few school-mum dinners in the restaurant and dropped in here for one or two drinks before going dancing in town. When it’s busy, you’ll wait a while to be served. In fact, even when it’s not busy you’ll wait. The staff always seem to be fluffy about over something. I love the beer garden and keep planning to come here on a Sunday afternoon(one day). The wooden decking has tall tables with stools and more loungy outdoor furniture settings. There’s also a huge TV screen usually pumping music videos. Given it’s a short walk back to get my car in the morning, this is a easy choice for me. My only issue is the more drinks I have, the less visible I want to be, and the lights always seem too bright.

A word of advice on The Cremorne… Watch your step. The reason being is that if you’re going to go and hit the hotel up on a Friday or Saturday night, and you’re sporting a pair of high heels(even if you’re not) watch where you’re walking. I sauntered out into the beer garden and bang, one minute I was upright and the next one of my shoes had flown off in some direction and I had fallen flat on my face. naturally I had tripped up this invisible step in the decking. Did anyone help me? well after my friends had stopped laughing, yes. but not one other person came to my aid. I guess what I’m saying is that The Cremorne is a little bit wanky. Everyone’s head seems to up their own behind, it’s like some sort of twisted masquerade ball. Aside from all my whingeing, it’s a really nice set up with a central bar allowing for quicker service and the menu is pretty good too. The interior is really trendy and in some parts its like being in your richest friends sitting room. Definitely worth one look at least, the music isn’t half bad and you can be sure that it’s not going to be dead over the weekend.

Following the trend of many other hotels of its sort, the Cremorne is newly renovated and open for business. A pub at heart with of course its money grabbing pokies and gambling area, the Cremorne Hotel has really come to life over the past couple years following its makeover. Day or night, the Cremorne caters for the masses, most of who reside in the South to East suburbs. It is a bit like the Glenelg Highway Hotel of the pending East. The food is nice, with all your pub type favourites. You can get a tasty parmigianina or chicken burger but then also choose from a few more unconventional selections. The real attraction however is its nightlife. Friday nights get busy with many coming for after work drinks, as do Saturday nights because… they just do. It is easy to get into the rant of going to the Cremorne weekly, especially if you live in the area. If you do become one of the regulars it might begin to feel like a drag, but for every now and then it is definitely a hot place to check out.
