Ugh. See, the thing is, after being lured in by the promise of a $ 35 mani/pedi, I left with pretty handsies and feetsies. The technicians actually did a pretty good job– its been 2 weeks and my toes still look good. The nail staff were sweet and friendly. But the place smelled like a sewer and was dirty. For some reason after my pedi the technician didn’t want me to put my thongs on, so I ended up walking around with bare feet on their filthy hair covered floor. Gross. A good scrub down of this place is sorely needed. And I would certainly not trust my tresses to be cared for in a place like this.

The worst manicure/pedicure I have ever received. The spa pedicure was terrible. The bare minimum of a pedicure was done– no nail trimming, a quick, 30 second leg massage and sloppy polish application. The shellac manicure was even worse. The polish was applied too far down the nail and it looked like it was already a week grown out. The manicure chipped 2 days later, and by the third day I had to peel all of the polish off because it looked atrocious. To top it off, there was a disgruntled customer waiting to have her nails done after mine as there was some confusion with her booking. She sat directly next to me as the technician blamed her for the booking mistake and whispered comments under his breath. The tension between the the technician and customer was extremely uncomfortable, and it was the opposite of a relaxing experience. A complete waste of money.

My first visit to Jo Bella was to get my hair cut via a voucher I purchased on a daily deal. Being a daily deal veteran I’m now used to the deal vendors misrepresenting the companies they’re trying to flog for, so it was no big surprise to see not the lovely schmick hairdresser I was expecting but what was closer in looks to one of the nail shops on Bondi Rd. I swallowed my abject terror of someone mangling my long locks and submitted to the hairdresser who actually did a perfectly fine job. Phew, bullet dodged! I returned here recently when I was looking for a blowdry on a Saturday afternoon(do you have any idea how hard it is to get a spontaneous blowdry on a Saturday afternoon?!). After being quoted anywhere from $ 45– $ 70 at every hairdresser in Broadway Centre, I suddenly remembered good olé Jo Bella. They had me washed and dried super-fast for $ 35 and I was able to continue on my merry way.
