Had Omelette, liked it and nice Flat White. You need to order yourself and rest will be done by the staff. Funny table tag names like snake!!!

Not sure how they justify their prices. A disappointing experience but for Brisbane this is like most cafes. I liked the name.

I don’t like giving a bad review, much less a less than stellar updated review of a café I used to love. But, in this case I think it’s warranted. A few months ago Newsroom changed ownership. With the new ownership came new staff and a new menu. While some of the original staff remain(and are working hard to keep the place afloat) sadly Newsroom has gone downhill. We all know new ownership can have some hiccups, so I’ve given it a good shot. But there’s only so many times you can wait 20 minutes for a takeaway coffee(when there’s only a few other customers) before you just give up. Consistently food and grumpy, super slow service from the new staff for over a month? Sorry Newsroom, I’ve moved on. And I know I’m not the only one — the usual line out the door for coffee on a weekday has ceased to exist over the past few weeks.

Went here for breakfast the other morning, arrived between 8:30−9am and managed to score a table, anytime after there was a bit of a line up out the door. This café is quaint, which means it’s small, but cute… not very many tables inside or out and in summer. you really don’t want to sit outside. Plus it’s on the corner of a busy road, great location! The staff were really accomodating and friendly, the slices of bread are very very thick though. We ordered the Big Breakfast which was just under $ 20 and it was nice… the bacon could have been a little crispier(I say this all the time) and the bread could have been ½ the thickness, but it was otherwise very nice. The sausages were yummy too. Would go back again, if there wasn’t such a long line up everytime I went past… but that’s a good problem to have!

Came late in the afternoon on a stinking hot day near close, and was ‘that guy’ that ordered two takeaway drinks. They were really friendly and didn’t make any fuss at all, smoothie and frappé hit the spot and tasted great too. Will definitely come again at a better time and have a coffee.

Appalling food and service! I ordered an omelette and a coffee. Nothing wrong with the Merlo coffee, but there was absolutely no taste to the omelette. They didn’t put any salt in. Also there were TWIGS of thyme in it that you have to constantly spit out. What’s worse is the customer service. I should’ve returned it from the beginning, but I tried not to make a fuss. afterwards 2⁄3 finishing, I couldn’t hold in my disappointment anymore. So I made a complaint and was only told by the staff and the manager that they wouldn’t do anything except for a second coffee which I didn’t need. The manager said even said that was the first ever complaint they ever received! He didn’t even know how to lie properly. Walked outta this café very disappointed. It was a bad start of a day!

Pretty pricey for eggs and toast, simple stuff you can make at home. I ordered the eggs and toast with tomato chutney, the portion was quite large because I got the eggs scrambled and had to pay extra for that. Was not amazing by any means. How it works: order at the counter, they give you a number, and bring the food to you. Service was nonexistent, you pick up glasses and bottles of water on your own.

Been here a couple of times and still can’t go past the Eggs Rustica for breakfast washed down with an amazing coffee or their cinnamon, banana and honey milkshake. Only downside is the high st at toowong is noisy with traffic.

Stopped here on the Australia Day public holiday for a coffee and was not impressed. Watery tasting cold coffee.

I came here to have a farewell coffee with a friend and they forgot his order! There were three of us and we thought it was odd why they only brought out two orders. Thank goodness for them, the chai latte and coffees were good. We sat outside and had a wonderful time chatting. I am not sure what it looks like inside. It is very close to the Toowong Station which makes it a good meeting place as well. The prices were decent as well. I’ll definitely go back and give it another go.

I’ve been here couple of times for brunch only and always order the same thing over and over again. The scramble eggs thing in the menu. They don’t have many range menu option so I always choose some thing I’ve tried and liked it. Place is really small. Mostly full during breakfast time. But it’s not something I would go to if I want to have a coffee with friends and just having chat for long period. The seating is not that comfy I think since I like sofa and some space when I bring my friends for catching up. But I would come back here again for breakfast. Probably will try something else, not sure. Fruits frappé is my favorite! They are fresh, taste good and not like smoothie. Some coffee shop couldn’t differentiate between frappé and smoothie. Many cases happened in the menu is written frappé but come up as smoothie, which I don’t really enjoy. This is not really a table service. You basically have to make order in the counter and they will deliver you the food, same like the majority of coffee shop. Price for the meal is considered normal like others around $ 15 – 20. I honestly prefer to go for Sunday buffet breakfast sizzler next door where I only paid for $ 19 for buffet and comfortable seating arrangement: D

I’ve had mixed experiences at Newsroom Café. The coffee has been very consistent, which in my mind is the most important aspect of a coffee shop. Other drinks were hit and miss, I’ve had milkshakes and smoothies that have been both wonderful and disappointing. Best to stick with the coffee. The hours on a Sunday can vary though, depending on how busy they are. I’ve had too many times where I have rushed there hoping for a late lunch only to be told that the kitchen has closed. Very disappointing. That being said, the staff do tend to be quite friendly and helpful. Their meals are mostly reasonably priced and a few pieces beyond the standard ‘bacon and eggs’, however I feel the specials tend to be a little overpriced for the portion sizes. Just because something is a ‘special’ doesn’t mean it should automatically cost more money! There’s a special plate in my heart for their sandwiches — they always managed to hit the spot.

I’ve often passed by the Newsroom Café and thought that it looked worth a trip, but have only just recently made it there and I can’t believe I haven’t done it sooner! I went for lunch on a Wednesday so it wasn’t slammed with people but there was definitely a few others there enjoying the all day breakfast too. Had the eggs Benedict with bacon and it was completely amazing(though I am a sucker for hollandaise sauce so am probably an easy please). Coffee was good too. The service was quick and the staff were friendly. Seems like it draws a bit of a hipster crowd but that doesn’t make it an intimidating place, everyone is welcome. Overall it was a pleasing experience and I will definitely be going back there again soon.

If you can squeeze in past all the cyclists on a Sunday morning, you might be able to find a table at Newsroom café for breakfast. You won’t really find anything more exotic than bacon and eggs on toast though; it’s only really worth a visit if you’re too hungover to cook breakfast for yourself and only have spare change left from the night before. It’s possible to get breakfast and a coffee for around $ 10 which is probably why the place is so popular. The coffee is good and the food is satisfying, just tastes like what you could make at home.

A couple of years ago, Newsroom Café was THE meeting place for me and my friends. It had great coffee, great food and great service – it was infallible, and a great place to sit and people watch. Then the ownership changed. Now, I find it a bit hit and miss. On a recent visit, four of us ordered both drinks and food. The drinks arrived quickly, but the food was staggered. I had the smoked salmon and eggs, which arrived quickly, but one of my friends had to go in and check her meal hadn’t been forgotten. We were reminded of why we’d stopped going to Newsroom. Not bad if all you want is coffee, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a place for the«whole experience».

Newsroom café has been a part of Toowong for ages — as long as I can remember. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a café. Nicely setup, reasonably priced, not too busy but not completely desolate. A good breakfast menu, with bacon, eggs, sausage and toast for $ 12 and they brew a decent cup of coffee. Not bad for under $ 20. They were extremely accommodating to my needs when I was stupendously hung over and I respect that — especially since it was a Tuesday. I recommend trying their cappuccinos and buying some cheese cake. Pretty delicious stuff. They also have a daily special — great stuff.

The best thing about the Newsroom Café are the specials. Their meals are all reasonably priced and consist of mainly gourmet toasted sandwiches, quiches, etc. But I always go for the delectable sounding specials, like today’s Salmon toastie with basil pesto, cream cheese and a whole list of other ingredients that I can’t quite remember but that certainly tasted fantastic. Situated on High Street in Toowong, the outside dining is a little noisy from all the traffic but inside you barely notice it. While I don’t know much about coffee, my latte was smooth and just how I like it. The service was great, and everyone had a smile. Rather than your standard table number they give you pictures to identify your table(I had the waterfall one) which is quite cute. The décor inside has a historic feel to it with brick walls and old wooden tables. The clientele at the Newsroom café is diverse, from suits that work in the area to uni students wanting a nice feed and you get the feeling that everyone is welcome. Definitely recommend it as a great place for breakfast, brunch and lunch.
