Overseas Passenger Terminal

You know those cruise ships that either make you marvel in wonder at mankind’s ingenuity or shudder with aesthetic horror when they’re dominating our beautiful harbour skyline?
Yeah this where they dock. I once went on a one-​night famil on a giant cruise liner that went out of Sydney and came back the next day, on the day of boarding it’s absolute chaos down there at the Quay, huge lines of passengers, signs warning about Norovirus (the world’s most common disease!), and ship stewards and customs officers all doing their best to herd the great unwashed all desperate to be aboard so they can start getting pissed.

When you get on the ship the people are friendly. When you get off you meet a batch of nasty, resentful humans who hate their lives and take it out on you. I was interrogated by one of «Australia’s Finest» custom’s officers just because we were around the same age and she just wanted to be nasty to a woman: enjoy your 5 seconds of «power» your life sucks. The lines didn’t make sense people kept cutting and there was confusion and most of the people who stood around «working» were absolutely useless. The terminal is not big enough to have all the suitcases in one room (that makes sense) and so if you look for an hour and can’t find it they bring you to another room that they didn’t tell you about that probably has your luggage. Then we were out of the ridiculous customs and immigration checks in the cruise terminal and were getting on an elevator when there was one last nazi-​nasty that wanted her turn with us. The elevator was filled with people and suitcases and she kept yelling to make more room. The entire elevator yelled at her for 5 straight minutes that there was no room and she wouldn’t let up. Finally she got tired of getting screamed at by a group (or found someone new to control?) and let us go down. One the way out we were by the security for the new crew getting on the ship and a lady was screaming at them about what to have on and to put through the x-​ray. What a nice way to end a cruise! The only positive which has nothing to do with the losers and a**holes that work here is that they have free wifi.
