I have always struggled to find quality coffee in the west. You have Circa in Parramatta which is great although nothing this far west and convenient. Coffee is smooth and not strong at all and available in three different blends. They have also just moved into a new site three doors down and the décor is spectacular — nothing you would expect in Toongabbie. I can’t comment on the food cause I only been there for coffee.

The Blend is a tiny café opposite Toongabbie station with a hipster/steampunk vibe. The décor is fun, I believe the owner is an artist so the walls have fantastical retrofuturism paintings which go well with the antique furnishings. They serve good quality coffees, cakes and light meals. Unfortunately the service we got was a bit shoddy. The guy at the counter took a few goes to get our order right, and then accidentally ordered us 4 sugars in the coffee instead of zero. They were pleasant about fixing that up at least. There’s no kitchen to speak of so our scrambled eggs were microwaved, but didn’t taste bad for all that. The prices were a bit high too, $ 13 for scrambled eggs on(admittedly tasty) sourdough toast and spinach, $ 6.50 for iced coffee which was half ice… These are prices I pay at the best cafes around here, and unfortunately The Blend just doesn’t qualify.
