Gorgeous spot for lunch if you can get a table on the balcony — food is nice (try the mezze platter or the savoury tart) if not exceptional and the service is very friendly. Decent coffee and indulgent desserts. Good for a leisurely weekday breakfast as well!

Check out more of Sydney’s spectacular rise into modernity. The Sydney Mint café is right beside the Hyde Park Barracks and is more tourist orientated than the Barracks café. It is located on the first floor of The Mint building and offers a delicious array of sweets and lunch meals. I would recommend a lunch here, for between $ 15-​$ 20 you can select from a range of gourmet prepared fine cuisine. I think that’s a real buzz to make you feel a bit special on a day at The Mint. The meals are elegantly prepared and served beautifully by the friendly staff, worth the visit for something different.
