During the heavy rainfalls last week I realised that somehow in the last year my gumboots had shrunk drastically. Or my feet had grown. Either way I needed new gumboots. They didn’t have my leopard print in stock so I got cherry blossoms. And you know, for $ 40 printed gumboots you can’t go wrong with Rabens. They are cute, you get to splash in puddles to your hearts content and squeal when you splash a good one. Much to the amusement of other people trying to skip over the puddles. Poor puddle skipping humans, they know not what they miss in glee. Anyway, it’s a corner shop that has lots of shoes. I noticed that they had cute other shoes too but I had to push myself out the door so I only walked out with my gumboots and not $ 400 worth of new boots.

I much prefer this Raben location to the one further up on Goulburn and George for a couple reasons. First, it’s open and airy and feels more easy going inside(as opposed to the other one that’s dark and has scary doc martins in the window). The staff are helpful to the point of harassing you and the selection is good. If you’re in the market for slip-ons, come to Raben and you will have a prism of color at your fingertips. I know how the«kids» these days feel about florescent footwear. Get down wit’ it here. I was recently in the market for some hightop sneakers for my hip-hop dance class(I’m a thug). Raben had some Nike knock offs in the window that were pretty baller, so I went in to try them on. The pair in the window were a little tiny bit faded, but not noticeably so. Given this, they sold me that pair for a mere $ 30. Nothing beats feeling like Missy Elliott for under fitty dollars. Now if only I could swing a deal on the cornrows…

A much bigger range than it’s Kings Cross buddy. Raben offers really low cost quality footwear, that is not too over the top pretty or prancy. The shoes are made to be worn and are typical of workwear or everyday wear. You get classic shapes and styles and the colours are pretty much standard too. The price is what is really attractive about Raben’s stock, $ 40 for black flat pumps. They come across really durable and effective. You know they wouldn’t fall apart after going out in the rain or walking on tar for several hours. You can pretty much rely on Raben.
