From the street, it doesn’t look like much. A generic, nondescript arcade in Sydney’s CBD. Even if you are bored enough to walk through it, it doesn’t look like too much. There’s a Japanese grocery store(which is actually pretty good, one of only a couple of Japanese grocery places in the CBD), a generic sushi joint, a Japanese fragrance place and a mobile phone shop. There’s also an entrance to the Town Hall Woolworths at the end of the arcade, and ultimately Town Hall station. However, towards the end of the arcade there’s some stairs leading to a basement level. Again, until you look down them, it doesn’t seem like there’s much down there. If you decide to decend the stairs, you are greeted with a crowded food court packed with office workers, mainly Asian. The food court is not huge, there’s only seven stalls, all serving a different Asian cuisine. There’s Chinese, Malaysian, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Nepalese and Burmese on offer, and it’s all at bargain basement(excuse the pun) prices. The Malaysian stall has a lot of fans, but i’m sure the others are all good too. Nb: It’s only open on weekdays(as it serves lunching office workers) for lunch.
