Really enjoyed our dinner. Dumplings were terrific and there were great selections. The crispy eggplant is yummy and very unique. Would go back again… in fact we did during our trip to Sydney.

Good food, good environment, a bit pricey but still worth a try. Especially recommend the shanghai style pork ribs

The dumplings are fresh and have great flavours. What’s nice about them is that they are familiar like what you would have at most yum cha but elevated somewhat as the flavour mixes are not your typical yum cha dumplings and they are much much fresher. The mixed dumpling plate is a good introduction if you want to sample different types of dumplings to see which one you like. My favourite was the scallop siu mai. We also ordered the mud crab and pork xiao long bao — you could really taste the crab — it was divine. Dr Skorpio liked the spice in the Sichuan-style prawn and pork wontons. It’s the type of spice where you know it’s hot but you can’t keep having another spoon of the sauce and invariably you end up in a coughing fit — in a good way. I always order this dish when it’s available. I wanted to order many many more dishes but had to limit the piggy factor due to post-Christmas weight blues. Would definitely go back again and would love to sample some of the mains for dinner.

I have to admit this has become one of my favoured restaurants for dumplings and refreshing Asian dishes. The venue itself is incredibly spacious with various private rooms, not to mention it’s simplistic and modern design. For the high quality of food, they are reasonably priced, so don’t expect to be going in for a bargain. The jade dumplings are a crowd favourite, and I would have to agree — the outside is soft and not too chewy whilst the filling is full of flavour. A special mention about the tea-infused panna cotta too which was incredibly refreshing!

Went to have lunch with friends, I’m surprised they’re not busy they are, considering it is lunch time, so we got sitted near the window. We ordered scallop dumplings, wok-fried king prawn, crispy tofu, wok-fried mixed mushrooms, had enjoyed the dishes we ordered.

Got the chance to stop by for their Launch. All the dumplings that were on offer were delectable! There were the usual prawn, seafood, vegetarian, mushroom or fungi. The Peking duck pancakes had a nice crispy skin duck with sweet miso and cucumber. The Deep-fried calamari with native spice salt and lemon dressing on point There was an oyster bar(i rarely have oysters) but the Fresh oysters with eschallots, celery cress and rice wine vinegar dressing was great. I also got to sample some of the tea’s they offer in house, the top favorite was the Dragonwell and they come in nicely packaged tins ranging from $ 19.95 — $ 34.95. They also do high tea from 3−5pm on the weekend — i believe the price was $ 38(don’t quote me on it!) The chocolates on offer had an oriental theme to them, there was green tea, ginger and lemongrass. Overall, the vibe i get from Lotus is more an upmarket style dumpling house. So maybe a special occasion dinner or event.

My guest and I found several pieces of crab shell in our mud crab Xiao Long Bao. When I notified the waiter, he just shrugged it off — no apology or explanation. I understand the kitchen makes mistake occasionally but at least give an apology. The waiter was also very poor in terms of service, we constantly had to get his attention and there were several miscommunications from him.

My name is Andrew and I am a dumplingholic. Hi Andrew I have been clean for five days since I went to Lynn Shanghai. Today I went to Lotus at the Galleries. I had mud crab xiao long bao, prawn dumplings and spicy wontons. I couldn’t stop myself. I don’t think I will be able to resist this place — it’s like a proper restaurant! I am used to laminex tables and surly waiters who are rude to me. This place is fancy — and the food? …oh god the food. I’m a lost cause.
