This is one of those places that I had this strange feeling of Deja Vu, well not really, but it was odd because a couple of years ago I swear that when I came in here the bar tender put a sign up on the cash register saying that she was not being rude she had just lost her voice. Oddly enough when I came in here again on my more recent trip I found the bar tender putting the exact same sign up on the cash register. Okay, maybe I’m just imagining things, or it could be that I have been unlucky enough to walk into the pub on the exact same nights that the bar tender had lost her voice(or she simply doesn’t like talking). Anyway, this is a fairly small bar, though it is a part of a much larger hotel in which you can rent out rooms. It is a fairly quiet establishment as well, despite the fact that it is located in the heart of Sydney. It’s sort of one of this nice bars that you can grab a quick drink after a rather hectic night out.

* Review is for Bar Only * I’m Crash Bandicoot here to spoil the fun for everyone. Whilst the Corry has a very decent happy hour, and the bonus of a free finger food carry around, it isn’t the sort of pub I could see myself hanging around in for more than one drink — and even that was kinda awkies. The bar itself is modern enough, which is great for the staff, but the customer side of the situation is anything but pleasant… it’s more like peasant! Either embrace the dive or invest in some decent furniture or is it too backpackery that it’ll get trashed? The pokie area is beyond seedy, if you venture in there drop a note at the local cop shop and say«Sarge! Just goin’ bush for a couple days, here’s my ‘tinerry!», cos the world might never see you again… and someone, just maybe someone, actually cares about you. To be fair to the Corry, I haven’t spent a great deal of time here, but to be even fairer to people reading the review, I wouldn’t wanna. You are in the city of Sydney. A stones throw from another 5 bars of similar ilk who can do it better, and a tennis ball chuck away from some of the best small bars in Straya. I have to wonder why anyone then would wind up having a night at the Corry… Even if you were staying here accommodation-wise you’d go out elsewhere to be festive surely?

This review isn’t for the hotel but for the bar downstairs. I think it’s actually called Park Street Bar but we all refer to it as «The Corro». A staple hideout for a cheeky pint at lunch. What really sets them apart though is their well priced chicken schnitzel. For $ 10 you really can’t beat the value. It’s actually a very good schnitzel served with chips and salad with your choice of sauce. I’d highly recommend the pepper sauce. For $ 2 more you can get an extra dose of sauce on the side which serves as a good dip for the chips. Also, pretty good prices at the bottle shop next door.

I’ve not stayed in the hotel itself, but I’ve frequented Park Street Bar on its street level. This 24 hour bar was one of the first I went to on my arrival in Sydney and it was also the first place I discovered they can cut you off it they think you’ve had enough to drink. The memory still hurts! It’s a fairly small establishment, but I quite like it. It’s nothing special, I just like it. Guess there are just some bars like that.

Had an opportunity to stay at this hotel(in the non-smoking area) to get away from home; the noise there and study for my final exams in my first year of university, and it was just as the rugby world cup was finishing. Needless to say it was a great, simple experience. The lift is a little bit of a nightmare to get in and out of; however once you get to your room it is quite spacious. The rate was around $ 90 a night; I ended up staying for two nights, and somehow they gave me the second night for free which was a great blessing. Checking in was a breeze, even though the system was more manual unlike the Hilton; and although there was a bit of cigarette smell in the building(outside my room, on the floor where I was staying) everything was fine. The room was simple with carpet(although stained a bit) with crème coloured walls, and bedding décor to match; it was all good. Despite being in a noisy part of town; I had two nights of great sleep and was able to study without any issues on the crème coloured desk. Not flash at all; yet it was spacious and adequate for my needs at the time.
