New best Friday lunch: Slow roasted pork roll with chili lime pickle aoli, crispy onions, rocket, and tomato. This thing is big, it’s bad, it’s colourful and it’s $ 16.50 which might seem a tad on the pricey side but hey you’re eating in and it’s a gastropub and if you pull up a seat in the beer garden out back everything will be right with the world. Plus it comes with a side salad which always adds a little sweetener to things because side salads are the S Club 7’s of the food world, how can you not love them? It gets super packed at lunchtime but the food is out in a JIFFY, I only had an hour but the food was on the table 5 minutes after we ordered, simply amazing given the amount of wine-and-lunchers around us. The service, too, was friendly and efficient. This place is cracking, I’m a big fan and wanna come back and try all the other rolls, then the pizzas. Hand me my fat pants.

This was my first visit to Gallon and for what is a pub it is pretty impressive — however, come prepared for fried food — fried potato, cauliflower and if you’re into it then fried cheese This is good pub fare but as someone on a wholefoods plant based diet I had to ask the staff what their kitchen could do The response was great and I was offered a felafel salad and then a tomato based pizza(no cheese) I was here on a Thursday night and the crowd was pretty big with patrons coming in regularly throughout the evening for drinks and food

Awesome date venue with outdoor seating and a courtyard. The fried potatoes are darn good.

I’m sorry that the other reviews weren’t all that great. I was there with a few Google employees on a weekday night and it was super charming and the food we ordered was great. We had the duck pizza, the cheese with cranberries, and a few other items that we shared. The duck pizza was outstanding! The cheese and bread was pretty much what you’d expect — good and simple. The service was good and seemed fairly fast. We had a few beers and ordering at the bar made it pretty simple for everyone with us. The location was great and close to the Google offices and the energy of the people was great. The outside area was fun and relaxing. I will for sure return on my next visit to Australia.

3 years ago, I was really happy that Gallon opened in Pyrmont because we need more than just pubs in that area. Went there the other night for something different, perhaps some sharing plates and some nice wine. We shared a bottle of wine and shared a few plates: falafels, meatballs, fried cauliflower and smoked hungarian sausage. The meatballs were quite bland. The falafel plate was presented well, but the taste was just average. The fried cauliflower was a generous serve and was probably the best dish for the night. The service was friendly enough but not attentive. You go up to order and pay for your drinks and food. They came twice, once to bring our meal and once to clear up. We were there on a Wednesday night, after 7:30pm and found the place quite empty. They had a good selection of beer. Not sure how often they rotate their wine list. After having been to a few small bars in the city I had a much higher expectation of the drinks and food list.

Packed, frenzied after-work bar in Pyrmont. Good if you’re walking or taxiing, parking around here is a real pain. If you like a place that has buzz and momentum and interesting cocktails, and you don’t mind a constant roar of background noise and being jostled by elbows every two minutes, this is great. There’s always an interesting wine or beer on special. And it feels like everyone is meeting here. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxed, place to have a chat, don’t bother stopping by on a weeknight.

Gallon is a decent place to go to for lunch with a friend. Nothing too special about the food and the salad felt a bit like they had slapped together the required ingredients. Maybe I’ll go back, maybe I won’t.
