Looking for a fresh and delicious vegetarian snack after a 24hr journey to Sydney from the UK, we visited Fresca on my sister’s recommendation. They serve a range of bakes, pastas, salads, pastries and other yummy goods, all of which are clearly home made and look both healthy and tasty. I chose a Greek salad and a spinach and feta pastry. The woman who served us was very friendly and made sure I had plenty of olives and feta on my salad(these things are important to a veggie!). When she heated up my pastry, a grill was used and not a microwave — and the generous portion of spinach and feta was just delicious. Fresca isn’t worth a special trip across town, but if you’re in the area and looking for a healthy home cooked meal, you can’t go wrong.

On the edge of Bayswater Rd, next to the guy that busks with the singing moose head and in front of the phone booths itchy people seem really anxious to talk to their friends on, lies Kings Cross’s idea of a healthy food shop. And with a selection of reasonable salads such as chickpea and pumpkin and Greek I would almost believe them if I hadn’t eaten here. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a step up from the other local grab-it-and-run options which basically range between kebabs or Maccas, but I just don’t think they have a high turn-over rate because my chickpea salad has tasted less then fresh on more than one occasion.

24 hour café. I liked the range of salads they have available for their take away packs. $ 7.50 buys you a medium and you can pick and choose which salads you want. Hot or cold. It also offers ice cream, coffees, sandwiches, so it’s just a healthy option to late night foods. Which does give it a selling point. The cleanliness of the place is noticeable too. It’s across the road from the Kings Cross station so not far at all, but is surrounded by hot chicken and pizza places, it might sometimes get looked over. But there’s nothing wrong with stopping by Fresca

This place is perfect for a post-big-night drunken snack. It’s located just up the road from all the popular hangouts(World Bar, Candy’s Apartment, Mad Bar), and it’s open late! Their pizza is delicious, particularly if you’re ravenous after some serious alcohol-chugging. It’s always served hot, always tastes fresh, and the guy behind the counter is always up for a chat. Tell him how much you love his pizza, and his whole face lights up with glee. Try it!
