I was wandering the area when I wanted to check out a restaurant in the area but it was closed. I looked up other good options here and dropped into Sopra. I had a seat at the bar and quickly chatted up the staff who were very friendly. After some chit chat I was recommended the meatball and pasta dish. I decided that I’d give that a shot as I’ve been mostly eating Asian food this trip. Service was good but the food didn’t match. The meatballs had a nice texture but the sauce was sour and something through off the taste of the dish. I had a hard time finishing it but finished up and was off. Definitely a disappointing meal and if you’re recommended it I’d say pass onto something else.

Awesome setting for this café cum organic grocery store. We started off with a bunch of starters, a platter with some cold meats, olives, foccacia, all tasty but we were recommended by the waiter to choose way too many of them, hardly needed my main! The duck ragu gnoccocini was very testy but outdone by the ricotta gnocchi with spinach ordered by my girlfriend… absolutely amazing. Cool place, friendly waiters, would recommend.

Always a great atmosphere and the staff make you feel you are being served by the best as they speak in Italian and give you personal recommendations We had the bolognese which, although good, I was expecting a bit more from a renowned Italian restaurant. I wouldn’t rate that dish highly but the other things we had, zucchini flowers and the pizzas, were amazing

I love this place. So much that I have come here and also to the other Café Sopra’s around Sydney many times. I ate at Bridge St last night and ordered my usual: orecchiette with ragu, crispy polenta, sausage pizza, osso bucco topped off with a glass of wine. My favourite dish is the polenta as the outside casing is lovely and crisp whilst the inside is an explosion of soft polenta. The cheese and mushroom paired with this dish makes it one of the most tantalising and more-ish thing I have ever eaten. Service is also very good here and they have a great selection of Italian wines by the glass. Prices are pretty standard for Sydney dining and the location is great — it’s also right by Rockpool.

This place has been on my bucket list for ages so I was really excited for this place when we visited on Saturday night. The place was pretty full when we arrived at 8. It had a great friendly casual vibe to the place. The menu was extensive with both pizza and pasta menus. They also had an extensive range of appetizers. Don’t make the same mistake our group did and don’t over order. The appetizers are quite large and designed to be shared. I would love to give this place 4 stars but I was disappointed with the food. I may have ordered the wrong dishes? but the dishes I had were just bland and boring. I ordered the caprese salad as an appetizer. It was fine but not that hard to get wrong. I the ordered the linguini with lemon & chilli. The whole dish was dry and pretty flavorless. I was left very disappointed. I may come back and try something else since it may have been an off night. But I won’t be rushing back too soon…

This place is always packed! I’ve been here a few times, and they’re food is consistent — try the basil, cheese & tomato pizza. Simple but yum as it has just the right amount of cheesiness… *drool* The lasagne. Well let’s just say Garfield would approve.

Great fresh, genuine italian food! We went for an early weekday dinner after work(6pm), which was perfect in terms of timing as we put our names down and had a drink at the bar whilst they got our table ready. It’s much bigger then the Fratelli Fresh in Potts Point — loved that you couldn’t really tell where the Café was, except for a small sign, and that when you walked down it opened up into a big open space with great atmosphere. Would definitely come back!

Love this place! It’s confusing because there isn’t an actual sign on the place. There’s a menu board outside and it leads to their restaurant — which is technically in the basement. Such great food and drinks — not to mention vibe! Highly recommend!

We wanted to have dinner here on Saturday night so I rang on Wednesday only to be told they were too busy to talk to me and to call back the next day! So ok I called back the following day and after ringing twice and being hung up on I finally spoke to someone. I wanted a booking for 3 for 6pm the person on the phone said wait and the phone went dead for 2 mins and finally after thinking I had been disconnected there’s on came back and said 8pm or 6pm so 6 it was. So we arrived about 10 mins late due to traffic and were told we had to finish by 8 for the next sitting… Great way to be greeted. So we were taken to our table a waiter asked sparking or tap water and that drive quickly. We then waited for someone to take a drinks order which finally we caught a waiter and asked can we order drinks. We looked at the. Menu decided what we wanted and then tried to get someone to take our order which took about 10 mins. Our drinks were still no where to be seen. We asked twice where our drinks were which finally turned up after 20 mins. Or entrée turned up and it was not too bad followed by or main which was putting it mildly pretty pathetic. We had the crumbed chicken with coleslaw which was one scoop of coleslaw and a little piece of chicken with some Parmesan sprinkled over it which I guess the forgot to put in the coating? All this took 2 hours. It seems the staff are not that great and there is not enough of them. We have been here a couple of times before and the experience has been similar but this was the worse. Needless to say we will not be returning. I guess since they seem to be full that they don’t really care about this kind of review but this to me is a place that will not survive the long haul. I hope they improve because it is a nice place and the food could be really good. We will not be back though

Great food but the staff is not quite with it. I have dined there 4 times now always for a casual catch up with friends or business colleagues. Yes they are busy and yes they know it. It might help to have friendly staff in the front who respond to, may I have a drink? As yes of course you can, not it will be 45 minutes do you want to still want to stay? Of course I want to have a drink and I’m happy to share a few wines with my friends at the bar. But it really hurts when you go back to the toilet only to see three empty tables or when you wait 45 min and no one comes to check on you. I don’t need Quay service, but if they would prefer me to serve myself then let me do it as its casual Italian food that is quite tasty and authentic! Just work on serving your patrons and you could smile every so often. The pizzas are Devine, the starters all excellent, the setting very Melbourne. Please please lose the attitude and this place would be five stars for sure. I’ll probably go back, but if I could trade the service from the Potts point location to the city it would be perfection!

This is a great place for either lunch or dinner, we had one of each during our visit. Note, however, that it is very popular and they only take reservations for the weekend so prepare for a wait during weekday lunch time(we arrived around 1:30pm and were able to get a seat right away at that time, but clearly the lunch crowd was just beginning to break up). There is a large board with much of what’s on the menu, the menu you’re first given at the table doesn’t include everything. You can ask for what’s on the board on a sheet of paper as well though. We had different dishes and they were all delicious. We split a salad and then were barely able to finish our main dish. The next time we skipped the salad and still could barely finish the main dish although I did go for a dessert.(I didn’t think the Torta Banoffee was that great, go with something else. Crumbles seem to be delicious at a lot of places, I wish I’d gone with that in retrospect.) The salads, the liver pâté, a pizza, and various pasta dishes were all first rate. And unlike what often happens with a pasta dish, you’re left with meat sauce at the end rather than pasta with nothing to dip it in. Important: as you look for this place, recognize that it is downstairs from street level so look for the entryway with stairs going down. We almost missed it.

I LOVE bridge st Café Sopra! The food is always on the mark– and they cater for every occasion — a quick beer and pizza– or a private table fancy celebratory dinner. The service is friendly, accommodating and prompt. The restaurant manager Julz is a star who runs the floor like a well oiled machine. Service is seamless! Highly recommend the pastas– all of them– yet to have anything less than an 8⁄10. Also note– they will do takeaway for city folk working late– doesn’t feel so bad to be at work at 9pm if you are enjoying Sopra pasta! The atmosphere is really buzzing– lighting is perfectly suited, and the choice of ‘rooms’ means you can decide what you are after. Highly recommended.

Second time lucky this time I come to try the Mozzarella Bar at Fratelli Fresh. Taking a perch at the Marble Bar the service is prompt. A young italian girl explains the Mozzarella Bar’s menu where pizzas range from $ 18-$ 22 and salads are all $ 15. The salads are served with fresh baked rolls. We elect to have the Tomato, Proscitto Di Parma, Mozzarella and Arugula which arrives 10 minutes later which is amazing given the bar and the restaurant in general is packed to the rafters from the high communal tables to the stools that run along thin leather seating with bar stool tables. The Mozzarella came melted over the pizza which I didnt mind the saltiness of proscuetto will always win me over. I do covet my colleagues Mozzarella and Pomodoro salad though. Overall the food was wonderful and the experience wonderful.
