Have done BaiTong a couple of time now — and I don’t think I have ever been disappointed yet. It is at that stage where we take a foodie friends because we know it will be good — plus, when we bring new people the owner spoils us with a free dessert. They have got knew kitchen staff lately, which I think might have caused some issues, but the owner, Irina seems to be all over it — she knows exactly how she wants her dishes served. They recently got the liquor license, which is great for a small business.

On a detox so had to find home delivery which was gluten free and vegan(with brown rice only) AND that the boyfriend would like. Unbelievably, BaiTong managed to deliver! I’ll definitely be back — the specials were delish and the BF says he didn’t miss the meat! 2 thumbs up.

So suddenly, one day our favourite pizza place is gone and no one knows why. Then about a month later we walk past expecting to see the shell of a space only to find a new restaurant had just opened, that very night. So what does one do? — One goes and and takes the neighbourhood honour of trying the new establishment before the rest of the suburb. Oh Boy Oh Boy! Were we not expecting this in our little suburb. BaiTong Thai is sensational! We were gobsmacked out how tasty the food was, how well presented it was and lovely the new owners are. Needless to say, we have been back five or eight times in the last three months and we have never been disappointed. The owners are locals, who work during the day and run the restaurant at night. The chef is a surprise. This restaurant is easily trendy, funky, hip, happening Newtown contender, but it ain’t in Newtown, it’s in Tempe and we will be keeping it. Oh! and the Pomegranate Sorbet is outstanding.
