It was a clean and cool place. I got some take out and it was delicious

I am officially about that life thanks to my good friend who is vegan. There haven’t been many times that I’ve called her and she hasn’t been at About Life. It’s a part of her, and when I finally went with her to see what the fuss was about, I realised that pretty soon it might become a part of me. I didn’t know that the fast-food they serve was buffet-style fast-food. In other words, there are about 30 trays(mainly vegan, hence why she’s drawn to it) filled with the healthiest and tastiest meals, and extras as well, from which you can choose. You can grab either a small or large plate and fill it to the brim with whatever dishes you want. When you’ve finished this, you take it to the counter and pay, and then sit inside or out(there’s plenty of seating so you won’t ever have to wait) to demolish your meal. I enjoyed it so much that yesterday I walked 30 minutes in the scorching heat to grab lunch there. And I’d do it again… I AM about that life after all.

This place will get you all excited if your a health nut. About life is an organic heaven with a wide selection of salad options, organic desserts, soups, frozen veg among other things. The salad counter offers self serve and prices start from $ 9.95 for small size. The salads look delicious. They also got dinner options like lasagne or cacao chilli. They also got loads of regular grocery items but organic alternatives. This time I got protein ice cream and some protein bread.

I loved going into about life. Great café and food for on the go. The store really reminds me of a Whole Foods in the states, just not as large. This was my go to health shop while in Sydney.

From Order To Table: Check out was pretty fast. Service-ometer: Cookie cutter. Stomachability: Like a home cooked meal. Which is probably what you’re having because this is mostly a grocery store. Digest suggest: Coffee with a friend. Located in the heart of Surry Hills, About Life offers an extensive range of products for the ‘time poor, money rich’ clientele in the area. They also cater to the cheese snob, gluten-free snob, organic snob, fair-trade snob and paleo snob. I really like their extensive range of ‘make-it-yourself’ stations. These include: pizzas, salads and frozen berry mix. Just make sure not to put them all together(unless frozen berry pizza salad is your thing). A little bit more pricey than its Harris Farm’s predecessor, but so far I’ve always had the best quality and price has equated to that.

Surry Hills, AboutLife, I love you ! — — — — — — — — — — — — - AboutLife: the paradise of healthy and organic food ! I discovered this amazing place at Surry Hills thanks to my boyfriend who works closed to it. And my first word was: wooooaaaaw. You can find everything you need in an organic way. I used to have my lunch there, at the self service, and good news, it’s accessible ! The staff is nice, the place is huge, you can find the cheapest coconuts of Sydney(3AUD if I remember). You can eat in or to go. One of my favorite place at Surry Hills. Definitively !

Absolutely love this store… I stumbled across this place just over a week ago and have been visiting visually everyday since. Join the loyalty rewards card– it’s free and means you get the cheapest coffee in Sydney, its also organic and amazing. This store always has something to sample– good discounts, the self serve salad bar is like whole foods– ideal for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Try the corn chips they’re delicious! The salad bar is super affordable– its by size not weight! S-$ 6.50 M-$ 10.50 L-$ 14.90. The large is plenty for 2 or even 3!

Here I was, minding my own business and wanting to live as peacefully as I could… killing some time for a beauty appointment on a glorious, hot Saturday in the CBD. Enough said. Felt really relaxed spending time at the Art Gallery, and the salads at Thomas Dux came to mind as the place to buy my dinner for a quiet Saturday night in for a change. Then the thought of walking to Thomas Dux at Surry Hills to buy my Saturday night nosh was an attractive and no-brainer proposition, yet I needed to walk quickly. I was surpised to suddenly realise the demise of Thomas Dux, in fact so to the grave for the last two weeks unfortunately. On the other hand, I was equally(if not more) excited to see Aboutlife set up shop in this prime real estate on superb Crown Street. There was an artist painting a portrait for Aboutlife outside, and then I was offered some dairy and gluten free chocolate to taste. So far I was having a great day without having to resort to any chocolate, yet I was hooked. The range of help yourself fresh foods(salads, bruschetta and even pizza) was just amazing, as well as a few free tasters. I kept browsing the store, and was even amazed to discover some natural make up available to buy here too. I’ve just discovered an epiphany… a glimpse into the future of «superfood» supermarket heaven. With that in mind, I grabbed a take away fish and chip style box, in tandem with renting a pair of tongs to pile on some yummy kale, cooked broccoli, real beetroots and other vegetables to name with a drizzle of tahini sauce. In fact around 150 grams worth. $ 10.50, although steep was the best money I have spent on salad in Sydney by a long shot. Now I regret not signing up to their VIP club. What a great, simple dinner that did not bloat the tummy. Welcome to the«hills» indeed.
