This is not the first time I’ve come to this place, i like the char kway teow from this stall. Today just of sudden I feel like chicken rice, and I came to this place. The food was good for food court standard, you can’t complain with the price you pay. I think over all this place serve more than decent food court foods.

This place is in the same food court as Gumshara so its one of those hole in the wall places as well. I’ve heard some rave reviews about the Chicken rice and Har Mee here so decided to try it out. The serving for the chicken rice was quite decent and the taste is very similar to another place in the Woolworths Town Hall food court basement(which is lunchtime only), but the good thing about this place is that it opens till late(like most Chinatown places do). I’d definitely be back to try out the Har Mee or whenever I’m in the mood for Chicken rice.

Rightfully famous for their Har Mee .a delicious Prawn soup with a dark strong Prawn flavored stock… great on a winters day. A lot of people also rate highly their Hor Fun but I found it just ok.

This may sound ludicrous(The adjective, not the rapper) but I find it really hard to get any kind of work done in a food court. It’s not just the noise that hinders me, it’s also the Feng Shui; having my back to that much empty space means I’m an easy target for my enemy. Regardless, as I was having such trouble finding somewhere to eat and to while away the hours before my next appointment, I wandered down to the Eating World food court in China Town. I came across a Singaporean eatery and their sign caught my eye, it had a picture of the roast chicken and vegetables with oyster sauce. I’m a sucker for vegetables with oyster sauce, and the small red tag which read, «Best Seller!» enticed me even further. I ordered the meal and I was asked by the shop girl whether I would like a «…» I didn’t quite hear her, but I said, «Yes.» If I was going to review this business, I was going to be a yes man, «Yes Man! Yes Man! Yes Man!» It would cost an extra dollar she continued, I nodded and said, «That’s fine.» I was in too deep now, I couldn’t back out. She handed me an electronic beeper and I found a seat. When my food was ready and my beeper beeping, I went to retrieve the lunch. There was my roasted chicken, my rice, a small bowl of soup, the vegetables in oyster sauce and a brown egg. A dark brown egg. The chicken was delicious with its soft subtle flavours and crispy skin, the vegetables always full of goodness and a treat for the tongue, the soup was okay and the rice was good too. Though, once the chicken and veg was finished, I found the sauce drenched rice(Drenched by my own hand in the chickens juices) a little too rich to eat on its own, plus I forgot to get a spoon, so I was trying to eat it with chopsticks and it wasn’t glutenous enough for that. The egg was actually really tasty, it tasted like an egg. Coloured dark brown and with a slightly rubbery texture, but still true and honestly an egg. The food stall is called, Shiok, and there’s a translation beside it which reads, «Singaporean for ‘great food’». Not speaking Singaporean, I’m unsure of whether that is a literal translation or more in the vein that Ikea is Swedish for design. Either way it’s definitely true.
