Swanbourne Fish Bar

Swanbourne fish bar may be under decorated but the fish is out of this world the recommended food here is the crab sticks which are the most superb the onion rings are splendid

This store is an old school fish and chip shop in located across the road from the Swanbourne train station in the local shops. There’s a ‘gourmet’ pizza lounge conveniently next door, and a small supermarket a short way down the road. Take away only, no tables or chairs other than to wait for your order.
We had red emperor fish which was nice and juicy in a reasonably light batter. The fillet was not especially thick, but the serve was a good size. The chips and scallops were average (normal) for the price. The squid rings were crumbed not battered, so if you like that then it’ll be better for you than for me, I prefer batter on squid. Over all the quantity was plenty for 2 people, and the quality as expected.

So, I learned that in Australia «Fish and chips» is a greek’s business and I’ve been warned a few times that if it’s not greek, it’s not good… Why that is, is beyond me, but as I usually almost never follow a warning, I thought this time I will listen to the locals and be a nice girl.
The main reason we came here is convenience. It’s just down the street from where we are staying and yes they are greek ozzies, with blue all over the place and the warm and sunny accent. So what could go wrong?
The chips were good so were the fried scallops, the down side would be the fishes which were a bit chewy.
Waiting time was a bit long, service was a bit cold and strict, prices were fair.
I suppose there is nothing much to be excited about eating a regular fish and chips.
