Remember: Thursday is $ 12 rump steak and chips. You even get to choose your sauce! Really good steak for its price and the chips were crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Yums.

They serve the best lamb shanks in Sydney, the meat fell off the bones and they serving was massive and delicious. My partner had the Guinness Pie and it was amazing as well. We will definitely be back.

Good food for the Price. The fish and chips was lots of food. But typical Americans we sat down and thought we were going to be waited on:…: the key at this restaurant is to remember you order your own food then they bring it to you… you order your drinks at the bar and take them to your own table. Good came quickly and the bartenders were great.

Just off the Carnival Legend and a few steps away from our hotel I found this to be my favorite watering hole. The staff is what makes the place as well as the pub itself. During the day or night they do have specials. One night I had a dinner after a dinner, which was going to one restaurant leaving it as hungry as I came in and coming to this place for another GOODDINNER. The menu is on the table, go up to the right of the bar, order, pay, and take the number they give you and wait for a good lunch, dinner or snack with a smile.

I’m usually not the biggest fan of Irish Pubs as most of the Irish Pubs where I hail from, South Florida, seem to be mostly faux or fake Irish with huge flat screens blaring out reruns of American NFL football games and have rather unauthentic cheap, less than flavorful gimmicky Irish foods. So, I found the Porterhouse Hotel a real delight. The Irish Aussie or just Aussie crowds that gather here are friendly, engaging and just sort of a joy to be with. They also have a WiFi though it isn’t all that good and limits you to 30 minutes a day, but the beers are great, kept at the correct temperatures and served with a full pour. Though maybe a matter of personal taste, I really loved their Kilkenney draught. It’s also a spacious establishment with a really great down to earth sandstone/brick décor, an atrium dining area enhanced with a seemingly out of character but adding to the charm chandelier. There is also an outside porch with tables and chairs, kind of nice to sit at since faces an off street having little traffic. Most important to me however was their food. They have complete finger food, lunch and dinner menu items; all of which I found to not only be delicious but reasonable in price, particularly their Chicken Schnitzel priced at 14AU$, their Kilkenney battered fish 18AU$, or Guinness Pie 18AU$. You place your order and pay at a counter, they give you a number to display on your selected table, then serve the food right from the kitchen. I also found the staff, particularly the bartenders to be friendly, polite and always seeming to have the time to give you a smile, say a kind word or two, and sort of make you feel comfortable and welcomed.

Not a bad pub as Irish themed pubs go. Good Sydney prices for Guinness and Kilkenny pints at $ 6.50. Steak sandwich and chicken curry pies were good standard pub fare. Will come again.

Went here for the first time yesterday with friends who had recommened it as a great place for a Sunday feed :) Really enjoyable place to go. Food is great value, we all had a full roast(choice of meats) for $ 12 each. Drinks are very reasonably priced too. The boys were ordering Guiness for about $ 7 each. Its was a little quieter than normal apparently but still a lovley atmosphere. Lots of Irish(I’m one too so no complaining on my part!) Staff were very friendly and prompt too. Will def be back.

Sydney Irish Pub, with dog ales for beer, the U.S. equivalent of Hennessey’s. It’s hard to find a cheap breakfast anywhere in this city, and this ain’t it either, but a good-tasting BLT is the cheapest deal on the menu. Also, backed that up with a Steak Sandwich, and let me tell you, anytime you’re in Australia you will want to get yourself one of those(very superior to the American Steak Sandwich). Also, Hamburgers with all the fixings. Bumped heads in the broom-closet of a bathroom. Fix that, and please, somebody tell the waitress to manicure her nails before she sets down our plates. She was nice and all, but those blue-nails have got to go.

My friends and I came here on St Patty’s Day after the races. We knew every Irish pub would be packed, but our friend was like, «We’ll go to Porterhouse, nobody knows about it.» We hopped in a cab and was unpleasantly surprised to see a long que outside. So we waited and it only took about 20 minutes. Got in and there were green hats and drunken Irish and Australians everywhere. It was great! I ordered a cider and my friends got Guinness. We drank and chatted and had good fun. After a few drinks, I started to get a bit hungry. I was happy to see that they had curry chips on the menu. I went up to the food station and asked for curry chips and potato wedges. Sadly there was $ 20 maximum credit card charge, but the lady pointed me to the ATM. Was a bit drunk and it took me a while, but I got cash and ordered the food. Don’t know if I was just drunk, but those curry chips were AMAZING! Overall a great Irish pub.

Another of Sydney’s Irish pubs, and it’s certainly not a bad one! With a well-worn, yet clean look and barrels for tables in some instances, this is a very pleasant place to come for a drink. And being an Irish pub they don’t seem to look at you funny if you turn up at 10am looking for a drink — did this once before a day at the races, and they were even doing $ 6 pints of Guinness and Bulmers. Bonus!(N.B. that was a long day!) Set just off Oxford Street and parallel to Crown St in Surry Hills, you’re right in the middle of plenty of nightlife, so this can be a stop off, or you could even end up spending your whole evening here — especially if the cheap pints last all night. And if you come on a Sunday, they do a cracking $ 12 roast — which definitely has the ex-pats coming back(but that’ll probably be the cheap pints again). If you’re in the area, pop in for a cheeky one at least!
