Turn down for whuuuuuut! We’ve got a new contender. Well not actually new because I think it’s been here a while a but new to me. Just down from the Wild Rover, you head down some dark stairs and hit this sweet little exposed brick bar with classy fishing net kinda things and low hanging light bulbs and a giant booze menu with all kindsa craft beers and inventive cocktails and there’s people singing and rapping it’s some kinda R&B hip hip love in all up(down) in this place! This is one of those joints that makes you feel cool by association. Plus they’ve got an Americana-inspired $ 7 bar food menu — I had the Philly cheese steak sub with pickles on the side. Small, but perfectly formed… ladies.

This place rocks! The music is great, the vibe is chilled, the food is damn tasty and the selection of drinks are great. I also love the way they mix up their nights to keep it interesting. Definitely a great place to pop in during a crawl but you may never leave!

My friend jfunx and I are fans of Jazz, so we’re always looking for places with great live jazz — I am so glad we found this place! Actually, at first, we didn’t find the bar at all, because it shares the street number with a political office. The door to the bar is very nondescript, and I can see how it’s easily missed if you aren’t looking for it!(I’ll definitely have to go back and take a photo so everyone can find it!) We open the door and walk down to the basement, into a dark but very spacious feeling bar. It’s not large, but it feels like that because there aren’t a million tables squashed together. We were a little confused because their menu has only four items on it! If I’m being perfectly honest, having fewer items to choose from means less hemming and hawing about what to eat! And again, their cocktail and alcohol list is long enough to make up for it! jfunx and I both got a phily cheese and steak sub($ 12) — They came on super soft buns and went pretty well with the big pickle and the corn chips(not like Mexican corn chips, think corn flavoured prawn chips!) they come with! I also ordered a Secretplay cocktail($ 16) made up of gin, pomegranate liqueur, lime and lemon! It’s sour, but not to the point where you screw your face up as a reaction! It has an aftertaste much like a pez candy, which I really like and makes me feel kind of nostalgic actually! Finally, at about 7:45, the jazz group that we’ve been waiting for starts playing and they are super enjoyable. We close our eyes and try to tap along to the erratic beats of the music, and we are lost to the sound and the space. Unfortunately, the bar wasn’t very busy so only a few groups heard the band, but if you’re free on Wednesday evenings and don’t mind a bit of music, definitely check this place out!!!
