Christopher Hanna Hair

I’ve been coming to this hair dresser for a few years now. I always see Dermot he is excellent he really listens to what you want and does it (compared to those hairdressers who do what they «think» is better for you and then just goes crazy and does what you don’t want). His hair cuts are stylish but not over the top. It’s best to cal before hand to make an appointment to get the time you want. My favorite part (the shampooing) never disappoints. There is street parking also around 2 hours on the street.

I’ve had a few keratin straightnening treatments now all bought on deal websites for under $ 100 and found them to be excellent for my hair.
I heard Christopher Hanna in Surry Hills was a good hairdresser so when a deal came up for a keratin straightnening treatment for $ 150 i bought it and booked in about a month later.
I arrived 5 mins early and was told to take a seat (sat for about 10 mins) but a girl came in for the same time after me and she was appointed a hairdresser straight away. I found this a little bit weird — they called my name and i was appointed a hairdresser and he didn’t even know what my appointment was for — he asked me so what are we doing today, i said the treatment and then waited another 10 mins for him to get everything ready.
Anyway for those of you who know how a keratin treatment is supposed to work — this is what happened. He shampooed my hair twice. (I’ve always had it shampooed at least 3 – 4 times before having treatment). Then he blowdried my hair without sectioning it AT ALL, like how you blowdry hair when your 10 years old. My hair is very long also. So obviously it was still wet at the roots underneath and in the middle section at the back. Anyway then he put the treatment in. This is the worst bit — he then blowdried without sectioning AGAIN and then STRAIGHTENED MY HAIR WHILE IT WAS STILL WET. I honestly can’t believe it. I have receieved better treatments and blowdries at those little asian hairdressers and this is supposed to be Christopher Hanna… So disappointed, expected so much better. I’ve lived in Surry Hills for 5 years now and know a lot of people who go there, everyone has been horrified at my experience and will not be going back.

Designer hair care in a designer location — if you want hair to turn heads or you want to try a new and exciting colour then give this salon a whirl. I don’t really like the stairway you have to get up to the sinks to rinse but there is a toilet that is accessible to clients if need be. Be served frothy café lattes with biscuits whilst you let your colour set. And if you can, speak to Dermot he’s an Irish gem, an absolute colourwiz. The cuts aren’t too overbearingly cool so you will still recognise yourself on the way out but feel a million dollars and be prepared to pay for what you get. They are kind enough to let you know what the fee will be before they attempt anything major, so ask them and don’t be shy walk on by.
