My girlfriend and I were at Southbank tonight and had the worst experience at trying to find a place to eat. We were after a place that had good food and was cheap! So you we opened Unilocal and looked up Indian places and found this place. The food was great and we were certainly not disappointed with the amount of food you get for the little you pay! Was 100% worth going out of our way.

Good food for students. Affordable and yummy Indian food about 1 km away from UQ. Pre-made food sitting under heat lamps. As such the naan I got was a bit stale but overall everything else was pretty good.

This is very affordable Indian food, but they only do a few things well. My favorite items are the non-traditional dishes, such as the Indian Spring Rolls, which are deep fried spring rolls filled with small bits of vegetables and tandoori chicken. At 3 rolls for 2 dollars, I dare anyone to find a snack for a better value. The chicken tikka pieces, are also pretty darn tasty, but quite unusually are a bit spicy. For those on the go, the mango lassi’s are pre-made and in the fridge and a good deal as well. The eptos minimum is only five dollars, so it is easy for those not carrying any cash. Unfortunately, the curries are watery and pretty flavorless, and the naan breads are equally unimpressive. Basically, this isn’t a place for good traditional Indian food, but it is still a pretty good value.

In four words: honestly, I’d avoid it. Indian Feast is notable in St Lucia for providing cheap Indian food(specifically curries, naan and typical snack food like samosa, pakora and bhaji) served out of warming dishes/bain maries which are under glass and heat-lamps. It’s tasty, fairly decent food in and of itself, and would be good value for the money but for two things. Firstly, it has a problem with its current layout. It’s not airconditioned, and the doors are frequently left open. This isn’t a huge issue in winter time, but I’ve noticed a fair few flies inside in summer, and this is the problem — it’s not uncommon to walk in and see flies on the food. Secondly, if you’re thinking of eating at the place, that area of Mitre St appears to have a problem with scavenging birds — I’ve seen pigeons and ibises having a go at taking food off people’s plates and out of their hands at all three restaurants in that little strip.

After walking nearly 10 miles(16 km) looking for apartments for my studies at UQ, I stumbled across this place. I peaked my head inside and saw the wide variety of curries available. I decided to order #6 which was some type of combo which included 3 different curries, naan and salad for $ 10. I chose butter curry, mango curry and chicken tikka marsala. Butter Curry: ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS! Although you can taste the butter and richness of the heavy cream, this curry tastes amazing. Mango Curry: SOOOGOOD! This was definitely my favorite of the three because you can taste the sweetness of the mango mix in with the buttery curry sauce. Chicken Tikka Marsala: Large chunks of chicken and excellent sauce. Not as good as the mango and butter but still very good. After such a wonderful meal, I came back the next day and ordered #3 which is just 1 type of curry over rice for $ 8. I think this is a better deal if you know what you like. The portion is much bigger but you just get less variety. I picked mango curry over rice. My sister ordered the 3 option again and chose the same except with Vindaloo. Vindaloo: Very spicy and tasted just ok. Nothing special about it. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Overall, great restaurant located perfectly for UQ students living in nearby homes. The prices and portions are very fair. Definitely find which curry you like and stick with it. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because there are A LOT of flies and they land into the curry and all over the naan. i wish they would put a cover over the back side of the glass window because i saw at least 3 or 4 flies land in the curry.

St Lucia is known for its student population, and when you are a proverty stricken student who is too lazy to cook I recommended scrounging around for those gold coins hidden down the couch and making your way to Indian Feast. Tucked in next to Nandos off Fred Schonell Drive, this little Indian restuarant is cheap and tasty, just the way I like it. They have some fo the best deals out there such as the value meal for $ 4.95(Choice of 1 Veg Curry, Plain Naan and Raita) or their Daily Special for $ 10(Choice of any curry and rice, Bhatura bread, veg samosa and tandoori chicken wing). It is normally more food than a small girl like me can handle so if I get the Daily special I always have left overs for lunch the next day. Order the Naan bread. Made fresh, it is an absolute delight and the perfect accompianmnet to any of the curries on offer. They have a good range each day. I know the Butter Chicken is a favourite of many but I quite enjoy their vegetarian options as well. Indian Feast is good afforbable food served with a smile.

Indian Feast, formerly Miss India, is a staple fixture in St. Lucia. It’s cheap, it’s fast, and it’s pretty easy to eat. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a fast food Indian takeaway; lots of options laid out buffet style(including a very decent range of vegetarian options), roti or freshly handmade naan, samosas, chicken tikka… if you’re looking for your standard Indian feast, you’ll find it… here at Indian Feast. The vindaloo is fairly spicy, more so than I usually expect in Australia, and the garlic naan is delicious. Check out the fridge for homemade lassi which is a great accompaniment to the meals. The service is great, the staff are friendly and actually seem to enjoy what they’re doing, and the atmosphere of the place is warm and fun. I usually order my meals to go as the restaurant tends to fill up quickly(especially on weekend evenings), but the few times I have dined in, it has been a noisy, causal mess with friends. Overall, it’s a good place for a cheap and tasty meal.
