Ok this is potentially a lot of fun and a great location. As you come in there is a private room to the left that lets you dine in alomost true Japan style with table low to the ground. .hower the unerside is like a bunker so we dont have kneel our untrained western legs. nice The Japanese enrees and m as ins are not very creative so teriyaki, miso, udon are all there which is good if you like it predictable? The wster views are of course amazing so good for a dinner with friends or for biz but lack intamacy so not the place to go Barry Whiting. Menu prices are mid range at around 25 for a main . Service is ok not amazing but not poor. Downside: Sushi bar is really dissapointing. Small, badic sashimi and nigri(fish on rice) and California rolls are no better than a good take out. So you pay $ 36 for what is $ 12 downstairs in food court. This doesn’t mean dont eat there… just dont expect much.

Great food. Friendly staff and a great view especially if you seated near the widow or on the balcony. The food came out quick and was delicious. Will be back again next time I’m in the area.

Yummy, yummy teppanyaki! The staff were really friendly and attentive, frequently topping up water and asking us if we needed more drinks. The food was really good. We had the teppanyaki. I found the seafood in particular to be fresh. It was tons of fun seeing it prepared right in front of us., too! My only complaint was that the food seemed to take a while to get going? We were seated for, I dunno, maybe 30 minutes or more before food started coming out. We were ravenous at that point. :P

Miyako is located on the second floor of the southgate complex, up the second flight of stairs to your left. The interior is spacious with high ceiling, floor to ceiling Buddha feature and glass window overlooking the river. The service is lovely and prompt, with small details like warm towel after your main to freshen up and prepares you for dessert. The restaurant offers a la carte and teppanyaki. The a la carte dining area overlooks the water and offers a group semi private room with ditto all style japanese floor seating(modernised of course by a built in seat/back support). The area looks classy and picturesque as others mentioned. The teppanyaki section is lively and smells amazing with food being tossed and grilled before your eyes, and of course with all the amazing knife and fire skills. We enjoyed the agedashi tofu and soft shell crab dish, horensu salad, gyoza, sushi sashimi plate for two and a selection of salmon, aburi salmon nigiri and california and salmon sushi rolls. We found the meals were tasty and appetising, The downside for me is the sushi and sashimi selection, I found them somewhat overpriced for average quality. Dessert were also nice but nothing too memorable. Will i return? Maybe for the teppanyaki as they looked delicious, but i would skip the sushi.

With picturesque window views of the Yarra River and city lights, this restaurant is memorable for lunch and dinner. The restaurant has an open dining space, high ceilings and offers a separate section specifically for teppanyaki lovers as well as private dining rooms. Tables are finely set with room between each one to share an intimate dinner without that awkward moment of accidentally laughing at somebody else’s conversation, because you are seated too close to the table next to you. Reservations aren’t crazy to get, and the food was really fresh and well-presented. The service was very friendly and unobtrusively attentive. Miso soup and a sizzling plate come highly recommended!

Love this place! The Teppanyaki is an absolute highlight, with the chefs adding the excitement value by tossing their implements into the sky and creating spectacular fire displays on the cooking plate. The dining part of the restaurant is a little less exciting, but the food is excellent and if you can get a table outside, Melbourne city and the Yarra River provide a wonderful backdrop. Service was attentive and good. My only criticism on the night we dined in the restaurant, was that the food just wasn’t hot enough. Highlights were the Salmon Teriaki and Miso Soup, while the Sizzliing Pork(which wasn’t so sizzling) won kudos from my dining companions.

Miyaku is an amazing Japanese restaurant that serves gourmet Japanese cuisine, including Sushi, Sashimi, and Tepnyaki, amongst other dishes. The restaurant itself is beautiful. With Yarra river and CBD views, the dining room ovelooks some of the very best of Melbourne’s scenery. But the interior is just as striking as the exterior. I couldnt tell you what authentic Japanese décor looks like, but whether authentic or not its very striking inside. In addition to the balcony area, the restaurant boasts an indoor a la carte dining room, a teppanyaki bar, and two private Tatami rooms — you know, where you sit on the floor and eat around a low table on special japanese flooring. Its perfect for private parties. A meal here can be expensive, particulary if you are very hungry –those little pieces of raw fish dont come cheap! I love their Miso soup as well as their Tempura Udon. Mmmmm, battered seafood and veggies in broth… Anyway, plan to come when you really want to impress someone, or if you want to splash out a little bit. It really is a great dining experience.
