This is the most unprofessional and unscrupulous dry cleaner I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I brought in an old dressing gown to have a couple of holes patched up. The seamstress said she could trim part of the waist belt off to as patches due to the length of the belt which I was ok with. The first red flag was that I was asked to pre-pay for the repairs. After going home later that night I decided that it wasn't worth repairing the garment, and decided to replace it instead. The next morning I intended to come into the shop to collect my garment, but was feeling ill. As I live alone, I called the number on the receipt 14 times over the 3 days I was home sick trying to get them to cancel the work. I finally felt well enough to come in 2 hours before the garment was supposed to be ready. The 2nd red flag was when I came in, the lady said the garment wasn't ready because "I was just about to go out and buy some fabric". I knew straight away she was lying to cover for the fact she was behind and hadn't bothered to call me to notify me. In any case, that potentially saved me filing a claim with VCAT to get (part) of my money back. The women through away the bag I brought the garment in with and tried to gaslight me and say if it meant that much to me I would have brought it home. That pissed me off as my late mother gave me that bag and it had a lot of sentimental value to me. I'm not being racist, but it's amazing how Chinese people can lie straight faced to you. That rattled me and I left the shop without asking for my refund. When I remembered and came back in 15 minutes later, the women played dumb and pretended she'd forgotten as well. This is the most unprofessional and shiftiest business i've dealt with in a long time. 1 star is too generous. It this site allowed a 0 rating, that's what I would have given.

I was in desperate need of getting a bridesmaid dress altered… quickly and cheaply, of course. I called around and many places were quoting me over $ 100 to have the dress taken in and hemmed at the bottom. Now, I don’t get things altered much so I’m not familiar with the going rate for this type of service… regardless, that seemed a little steep. Then I came across Toorak Dry Cleaners on Unilocal and read Deborah’s review — I figured I give it a shot. I’m so glad I did! The tailor is a true professional and the quality of work was fantastic. I was a little worried during the fitting because he had another lady doing the pinning, and she didn’t really seem know what she was doing… but when I got the dress back(2 days later), it fit like a glove. She told me I was lucky to have come when he was there because he knew exactly how much to take in just by seeing the dress on me. I ended up paying $ 60, which was still a little more than I wanted to pay, but well worth it due to my level of satisfaction. Give them a try if you need alterations on a budget!

Affordable, fast and friendly service awaits at this traditional(I say traditional because the premises looks really old-school) dry cleaners. Don’t worry they have all the right equipment to handle your precious garments. Not only can you get a doona washed for $ 25 in just a day, they offer really competitive dry cleaning prices for everyday garments like $ 15 for dresses and $ 8.50 for silk blouses. And offer package prices to save you more. This little shop also offers same day alterations and if they’re not busy and it’s an easy job, they’ll take up a hem while you wait. Browse through their flowers on offer(yes, they sell flowers too) or have a cuppa while you wait for your pants or skirt to get done. I recently brought in a dress that needed to be taken in immediately as I was going to be wearing that dress to a function that night. The friendly owner was quick to offer her services and got to work instantly. It cost me $ 30 that day but I was happy to pay the price since they did do it on the spot.
