The Falafel Man

If there was a six star this humble one man show would definitely have earned it. Straight to the point ‘The Falafel Man’, doesn’t need any introduction or explanation. He is who he says he is as that’s what he does & he does it best.
As those before me have reviewed expect queues but it’s well worth the wait as you sink your teeth into the soft & slightly chewy pita, the crispy crunch of the falafel (minus the saturated oil which are sometimes synonymous with a bad falafel), the light crisp tang of the green salad & creamy coleslaw-​ish mix as the smooth tahini balances it all out.
It can get messy. Actually there’s no doubt it gets messy so if you prefer not to lick your fingers then opt for the falafel plate which comes with some extra goodies… I’ve yet to try but it’s on my list!

There is always a queue at The Falafel Man food stall.
Why?
Two reasons:
1) The falafels are freaking awesome
2) The service is crazy slow
So while this isn’t exactly where you go for lunch on the run, if you’re dawdling around the market and in need of food, be sure to stop by for a Lunch Pocket or plate. You’ll get change for a ten and a big wad of falafel and salad.
Be sure to add some chilli sauce and pita chips before you go.

Yesterday, while at the Prahran Markets, I found myself having to make a difficult life decision: should eat mussels for lunch, or falafel? Confused, I was standing between The Mussel Pot and The Falafel Man, looking back and forth between the two as my brain melted. And then someone walked by with a plate of falafel. Sold.
The line is a little long, but it’s really worth the wait. For under $ 10 you can get a tasty lunch plate of freshly cooked falafel, couscous, pita, and a few salads. It’s a decent portion of food and really hits the spot without making you feel greasy. Crisp and crunchy, I don’t actually think I’ve had better falafel in Melbourne.

Great Falafel! during lunch though it does take a while. but be patient, it is worth the wait!
