I actually like the furniture and the sales people were quite nice and helpful but the process of actually getting my furniture was ridiculous. I waited over two weeks for a couch and coffee table to be delivered and after waiting and taking off work for the delivery, only the coffee table was delivered. I had to wait two more weeks for the couch. This is on top of a $ 150 delivery fee mind you. Despite talking to the reps at the company I never got a real explanation or a refund. Again, I like the furniture. If they could figure out a post 1980s supply chain and delivery process they might actually have something. As far as I can tell, the entire furniture industry in Melbourne is content with being throughly mediocre and over-priced. If someone came along and actually provided good timely service at decent prices, they could make a lot of money because they would be the only ones out there doing it.

With it’s Richmond warehouse style showroom growing in popularity with interior design aficianados, it seems it was only a matter of time before Matt Blatt would establish a retail store in a hip neighbourhood. And as far as we know, Chapel Street take the cakes. Joining the array of chic designer boutiques on Chapel Street, Matt Blatt’s newest address targets retail clientele who want designer good looks but not the price tag. With an enormous amount of replica furniture now gracing this former shoe store — Matt Blatt is certainly causing some ripples in this area. Just like its Richmond warehouse store, shoppers who want to buy furniture will still need to either order online or in store. There is no cash and carry here except for some of the smaller decorative items. Check out the replica vintage drawers, lamps and chairs and while you’re there, look out for the giant horse lamp! And if you’re looking for some cool gift ideas and are not fussed that the items are replicas and not the real shebang — then you’ll be spoilt for choice here.
