While the world may be smaller now thanks to, among other things, social media, it can still be challenge to do business on a different continent. Recently I needed to send a get well gift to a dear friend in Melbourne. But never having been to Melbourne, trying to choose the right florist from the results of a web search was certainly flying blind. So I turned to Unilocal for some user reviews. Botanics of Melbourne was my choice based upon user reviews, and I want to thank all the UnilocalERS for their input. It was a great choice. The flowers were fresh and VERY stylish; the«Pamper Hamper» was full of goodies. I will certainly use Botanics of Melbourne again. If you are ordering from outside of Australia don’t try and order from the Botanics Web site. I found it confusing, Instead, send Shane an email telling him what you want and he’ll take care of it from there. He did a great job on my order. Additionally, be sure to call your credit card company ahead of your purchase advising them of your upcoming expenditure. If you don’t, they are likely to see your purchase as outside of your normal spending pattern and decline the purchase which will delay everything.

Well worth $ 85, had a lovely florist create an enormous arrangement with stunning orchids and foliage. She helped me decide for my gift and was extremely helpful and knowledgable. There are many more amazing gifts around all price ranges which I had time to browse while she was creating. An excellent place for live gifts! tip: no surcharge for Amex.

Thank you Unilocalers for the reccomendation! It was really helpful in choosing Botanic’s of Melbourne. I wanted to order a custom Terrarium for my friends in Melbourne but I am in Los Angeles so I didn’t know where to go. Luckily I found this place and they made a gorgeous terrarium and delivered it it quickly. My friend LOVED it!!! It was a bit difficult only on my part with an international order ie: payments, time zones, and general lack of knowledge of Melbourne but Shane totally helped me. Thanks Shane!!!

My best friend finished university yesterday, so I sent another arrangement from Botanics. I requested purple flowers in the bouquet and they responded via email right away to let me know it wouldn’t be a problem. They are amazingly prompt! Like last time, the arrangement was larger than expected. I chose the seasonal arrangement this time, and it looks great! The flowers were far from traditional(at least by American standards). The arrangement was stylish without being pretentious and I love it!

This place makes me so happy! I walk in and feel like singing a song from the Sound of Music or something, all the while flinging flowers through the air! It’s beautiful and an absolute must if you’re in the market for simple blooms for home, or a more extravagant arrangement to celebrate a special occasion. Most of the flowers on display are ones you have never seen before. How about some baby pineapples or artichokes in your flower arrangement? Popcorn flowers? Yep, they’re a thing too! There’s also a large outdoor plant section, plenty of terrariums and potted succulents(if you have a hipster in your life to keep happy) and lots of add-ons to make your gift extra special(think: bottles of wine, European chocolates, kids toys, jewellery and funky letterpress gift cards). With free delivery all over Melbourne, or 20% off fresh flowers when you claim their check-in offer, I know this is where I’ll head when I need some extra special blooms.

When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other. –Chinese Proverb I’m a firm believer in flowers and plants for any occasion and just because! This place will not let you down. It’s beautifully set up with fresh flowers, cards, little gifts, balloons and even jewellery. There are pre-made bouquets which I have purchased twice while on the go. One had lovely rustic looking flowers with a small apple in the bunch. They were much loved by the recipient, well wrapped in brown crêpe paper and a few bits of burlap and ribbon. I’ve also went in and asked them to make me up a bouquet of blue coloured flowers for a new Mum of a baby boy. I named my price and a gorgeous arrangement with blue hydrangeas and tall yellow flowers was born. They’re very competitive prices considering a bunch of flowers will sometimes cost you $ 15-$ 20 at Safeway or Coles. For similar prices you can get a much spendier looking bouquet that’s wrapped nicely and includes the plant food. The employees are very friendly as well. There’s usually good music playing and a good vibe. I was chatting to one employee, manager or owner I assume, and he was saying that they won first prize in the Melbourne flower show and they were a late entry. A+ NB, if you check in on Unilocal, you get a discount!
