Hiding in plain sight is one of my favourite sayings. And it applies to Q Eleven. Best damm breakfast menu in Melbourne. Let’s keep this a secret because I hate to queue!

Used to be one of the best breakfast joints in Melbourne. Last time we had the Sago porridge and corn fritters with Istra bacon. Really well cooked and super coffee. The staff used to be very friendly. Today our eggs were over cooked and the bacon has lost its smokey flavor. There is lots of competition in this location and they are not doing themselves any favours. Shape up or ship out.

Love the unique and changing menu here. Nestled next door to a very traditional breakfast place it’s wonderful to walk in here and know the menu will be completely refreshing without an Eggs Benedict in sight. You may have to wait for a table on a busy weekend but it will be the best decision you make all day.

«You can order anything you like for breakfast,» my mother informed us. Bad idea. I went with a giant cookie and my little sister chose a meringue, cream, berry and generally sugary monstrosity. To this day I don’t know how she managed to polish the plate, but she managed and swears it was truly superb. I’m much more a fan of their quinoa porridge with berries and magic. It’s rich, very rich, but somehow gives one that glowing feeling of doing something healthy. Kind of like when you eat dark chocolate for the antioxidants, or walk to the takeaway shop rather than drive. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Such good food. Worth waiting out the queue. The staff are lovely, charming even for when you stumble in for breakfast on not much sleep and a rotten hangover. It’s a tiny tiny café, and you will feel the squeeze, but relish it. And try the cookies.
