I’ll be honest, bakeries arent usually my thing but when I need to get a gingerbread man for my kids — I always go here. Gingerbread is usually a hard cookie but theirs is soft like a firm cake — but it does have aniseed aftertaste — the only thing short of me loving it as much as my kids. They do have 1 thing I do buy though and I couldnt spell its name if I tried, but its like a custard honeybee slice — if you like custard, like me then you will like it too. My wife likes their plain donuts, I don’t cause they arent my thing — but if they are yours you might like them too. The only negatives I can give is the pastry they use on their hot foods(pies, quiches and the like). I tried eating their pies twice and each time the pastry turns me off 2/3s the way through. Secondly there can be a lack of parking, the closest parking is covered in signs saying they’ll fine you to park there — I choose to ignore those signs… *sorry pub its attached to*… but I am only a few minutes I swear. There are lots of bakeries in Perth, but if you are near South Fremantle, give this place a shot — I usually go after getting a hotdog around the corner.

If I am not able to buy my sunshine loaf from Wild bakery I am very sad. It is so delicious and is my most favourite bread. A close second is the one they call Theresa’s loaf and their almond croissants are my husband’s fav. Their bakery is small and quite hidden away but worth the journey.

Love Love LOVE this place! If I could live inside a bakery this would be the one! They have a really awesome take on a beesting that they make with fresh custard and caramelised crunchy honey almonds($ 5). Totally would eat it everyday if I could! They also have a wide selection of pastries and many different types of breads including lots of organic sourdough varieties with crunchy tops. They also do gingerbread men($ 3) for the kids or young at heart, pretzels and even bronuts. I like that they use fresh, organic and local produce and that the fruits they use are what’s in season. I am slowly working my way through everything they have to offer and I suggest you do too! If Fremantle is too far you can also find these guys every week at Subi Farmers’ Markets!

Why not swing by this awesome hole in the wall bakery on your next visit to Fremantle, or make a special trip there as you won’t be disappointed. We got there after 10 on Sunday and all the plain croissants were gone, so probably good to get there early for the goodies. I had the vegetarian Indian style pastie, which was a little oily and had a very strong spice flavour so probably not the greatest on an empty stomach. I did top it off with one of their fruit mince tarts, which was a winner. Recommend you put in an order for Christmas. My fiancé had the chocolate croissant which he thought was amazing and he’s a bit of a chic croissant connoisseur. Go and visit!!!
