This is probably the best dining experience we have had in 6 years in Perth and happy to say that it is an absolute value for the money! It is fine dining in a warm atmosphere. The dress varied from casual to cocktail. We arrived ten minutes early and even though the place is pretty small we were escorted to the bar where we lingered over perfectly executed martinis(a rare find in this town). Our table was ready in no time: a two top nestled against the wall in one of the small dining rooms. Even though the room was full and there was a table of 6 or 8 in the center, our little spot was pleasantly intimate and we didn’t have to shout or lean in to converse. We had a cold entrée, a hot entrée, pasta entrée, and mains. The timing between dishes was perfect. We never felt rushed(or stuffed); the portions are just right and the general vibe and environment encourages taking your time, enjoying the dishes, the company, and the cozy feeling. Everything we ordered was absolutely divine however the pasticcio di melenzana con involtino di ricotta(eggplant pudding and eggplant ricotta rolls) were two of the best things I have ever taste-experienced in my life. The same thing is true for my husband’s experience with the vitello in squazet del friuli(beef short ribs). Really, I can’t recommend this place enough and I would add that while it is in the fine dining price range, it is not nearly as expensive as some of the other similar tier restaurants around Perth. The service was excellent; the waiters were knowledgeable, attentive, professional, and friendly. We left feeling warm, happy and satisfied.

For Daniel’s 21st birthday I took him to Galileo in Shenton Park, an authentic Italian restaurant that has been one of only 10WA restaurants that are recognised by the Italian government. After hearing many great things, I made an early reservation at 6pm as we had tickets for Cirque Du Soleil’s Totem later that night. The service here is exceptional, our waitress for the night impressively listed the specials and their detailed descriptions. To start off we ordered two entrée specials, the Caprese($ 23) and the Gnocchi($ 23). They thoughtfully split the Caprese onto two separate plates for us to share, the ingredients tasted very fresh and the simple combination of mozzarella with the saltiness of the meat were perfect. The Gnocchi was made with ricotta and spinach, four-cheese sauce and truffle oil. The pieces were so pillowy and melt in your mouth, definitely a highlight! For mains Dan had the Quail stuffed with Venetian Sausage centre & Lentils($ 29.90) and I had the Spit Roast Duck($ 33), one of the specials. The Quail was cooked perfectly pink and tender. While the duck’s skin was crispy on the outside although a little bit dry inside, however the creamy bed of mash it sat on made up for the dryness. Unfortunately we were in a rush, and didn’t get to try their dessert menu. However, they surprised Daniel with a little chocolate cake, which was a nice birthday treat. They also give all their customers complementary biscuits at the end of their meal. I think Galileo is a must visit in Perth, I’m already drooling thinking about that gnocchi dish!

My husband and I have been here three times and every time was fantastic. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent, and the wine list is also very good. You won’t be disappointed. I love the ‘family business’ atmosphere!

Well it had certainly been a ride tonight! The night started off great, for entrée we had the mushroom, the heirloom tomato salad and wagyu beef. The mushroom is a must have! You absolutely have to try it out, it is heavenly! The other two dishes were just alright, edible but not really special in anyway. And then main dishes arrived, it was three plates full of disappointment! We had the duck and gnocchi with four cheeses sauce from the tonight’s special menu as well as the slow cooked lamb. Unfortunately The duck meat was very very tough, hard to cut and hard to chew, the gnocchi was extremely average too, the taste just did not work for me. The lamb was the best tasting main dish, but it did not really stand out… The dessert dishes though, were just gorgeous! Everything tastes perfect! We loved the chocolate flourless cake!!! It is a must try!!! Anyways, if you do drop by next time, make sure you get the mushroom for entrée and do give their desserts a go!

Have been to this beautiful restaurant on a number of occasions. The food is the best Italian cuisine I’ve had in Perth. The serving sizes are large and very filling. The service is impeccable and the waiters and waitresses are very knowledgeable about what’s on the menu and wine list. It is reasonably priced for what it is. The waiter even gave us a little complimentary mini tasting plate of pasteries/chocolates with our coffees last time we went and it was my birthday. Highly recommend this place to all my friends and family

First class food and service is what Galileo Buona Cucina are known for and last night it was just what our family received, the restaurants warm ambience, Roman style interior and fluently speaking Italian wait staff make the experience even more authentic. The occasion was my sister’s 40th birthday dinner, we enjoyed the privacy of the private dining room with a long table of 18 family members. My sister had met with the restaurant and designed a set menu which included platters of entrees to share, a selection of 4 mains to choose from and a choice of 3 deserts to choose from. We had two waitresses for our table, providing exceptional service. They were extremely attentive the whole evening and discrete enough as not to be too visible, they would stand back and not invade conversations, at times I even became unaware of their presence even though they were still attentive to the table. Our entrée platers started to arrive and the selection of dishes to share on the table included; Cured Salmon with Olives, Capers & Anchovies /Grilled Mushroom with Chilli & Garlic garnished with dried Tomatoes /Warm Asparagus with Tarragon Vinaigrette, Spanish onion, Parmesan and Roma Tomato’s /Roasted Beef Sirloin with coss, Celery salad, light summer truffle, Mushrooms & red wine dressing /Antipasto — selection of Italian appetisers. Ok, so at this point after trying every mouth-watering entrée dish I was completely satisfied and wondering how I was possibly going to manage my next two courses. I ordered Wood Fire Oven Braised Lamb with Rosemary & Garlic alla Roma for my main, the Lamb was so tender and extremely flavoursome, a dish I would have no hesitations ordering again and recommending. I seriously had no room left for any desert but over indulged and enjoyed the Tiramisu accompanied with coffee ice-cream. I can’t wait to go back to experience this amazing menu and service. 5 stars on Unilocal from me, a total winner!

Beautiful traditional italian food. In a gorgeously set restaurant that reminded me of the little Italian tavernas we visited in Italy. The menus themselves are a little grubby but they encase such wondrous delights. The wine list is extensive and very impressive. For entrée we had the gnocchi which was slightly pan fried in a butter sage sauce. Served with ricotta– these little pillows were fluffy, tasty and homemade. A definite must if you’re a gnocchi fan. We also got the cuttle fish in a sauce– so authentic. Mains were the lamb and the veal stuffed with cheese and prosciutto both served with mash and sauce. My veal was maybe a little over cooked– full of flavor though. The lamb was beautiful, fell off the bone. The service was great, everyone was Italian which added to the authenticity! Would recommend

Galileo is delicious! Who loves authentic food from around the world? Almost everybody. That’s one reason why Los Angeles is the best place, but you will discover one or two amazing places in a smaller city. At Galileo, you’ll find authentic, top notch food for reasonable prices and awesome service. I LOVE italian food and this place made me gorge! I ate so much that my stomach hurt. Food coma! I didn’t feel bad because the quality of the food was high. You can taste it. The tastes in my mouth were like fireworks. There were so many different, yet all tastes were perfect lovers. The wine selections are superb! They know what they’re doing. The prices are very good, especially for this EXPENSIVE city. The service was even great, especially for Australia. In Aus, you don’t have to tip at all vs the US, so you may not get the friendliest service that you’ve been accustomed to. But here is my escape to Italy from the culture to the food to the energy! Oh and they only take reservations, no walk-ins. So, make sure to reserve your seat in advance because it’s always busy.

Surprisingly, Galileo Buona Cucina hadn’t been on my radar at all! How have I not heard more about this restaurant? We were invited to Galileo for a friend’s birthday dinner and stepped into a gorgeous, homely Italian restaurant. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Unfortunately this seems to be a rarity at times in Perth restaurants although I think it is starting to improve! The food was fantastic. I had a bruschetta to start which I could have easily shared between two and followed this up with a pea filled ravioli with spanner crab for main. Deeeeelicious! The other main menu options sounded just as tasty with none over $ 30(it was very very hard to choose what to eat — be warned!). A lovely wine list with a range of Italian wines to choose from topped off the menu. We didn’t eat dessert from the menu as we brought along our own birthday cake, however this was brought out by all 6 waitstaff who all sung happy birthday with us! The restaurant was filled with a good mix of people — lots of birthday celebrations, younger groups of friends having dinner to older couples. We’ll be back!

I have heard raving reviews about Galileo, so I called three weeks in advance to get a reservation for a Friday night. We had bruschetta and the starter sampler plate for appetizers. The bruschetta was perfectly done and so tasty. I had the gnocci for my main course which I found delicious but some may find overwhelming because there is quite a bit of butter in it. For dessert, I had their special which was a sponge cake filled with pudding, hazelnut, and chocolate with ice cream on the side. TODIEFOR! Service was notably top notch.

Hubby and I went there for a special dinner and we weren’t disappointed. Restaurant looks a bit old fashioned but service excellent as well as food. Loved the salmon carpaccio. Food very reasonably priced for the quality. Looking forward to returning again.
