Viva Zapata

We sat outside and had a marvellous view over the foreshore to the sea. A lovely lemon Margherita and jug of Sangria for drinks was a great way to start. For main course we ordered the fajitas for two and they were delicious and very filling. No room to eat anything else after!

Food was good, service was great, place looks groovy, with the music says my daughter.

I really like this place, I like how cosy and out of the way it is.
The food is pretty great too, brilliant portion sizes for the price. Especially the Nachos!
The meals have a good amount of heat without being too over powering.
I have one piece of criticism though, if they are going to offer an extensive Mexican beer list they really need to stock more then one.

Last minute decision to try this place and was not disappointed — in fact, it was probably the best Mexican food I’ve had — and I’ve lived in SoCal! Of course I started with the classic margarita and TD4 Chilli con carne followed by the sizzling plate of fajitas. Way too much food for the 2 of us so unfortunately there was some wasted food but we gave it our best go and loosened the jeans to make an effort.

Everything you should expect when going to a mexican restaurant, very nice inside and out. Meals are huge but so delicious! Very friendly service, they know there stuff, food and drink wise and go far to please there costumers! Have been dine in and take away, both services were amazing :)

A group of friends and I wanted to order two mains and three entrees but luckily the waiter warned us that the servings are huge, and quickly advised us to only have three entrees and one main.
Luckily he did tell us that because when the dishes came out the portions were pretty generous! For the price you pay you get what you pay for; we ordered half a serve of nachos and it turned out to be what would be considered a full serve at most other similar Mexican restaurants. They weren’t like normal nachos I’m used to with no minced meat, the tortilla chips were all stuck together as though they were baked in the oven and left out for a while so they eventually stuck to each other. We actually had to use a knife and a fork to separate the pieces, and there wasn’t as much cheese or jalepenos one would want for it to be considered a satisfying serving of nachos.
I’ve had much better nachos at small cafes that didn’t even specialize in Mexican cuisine.
The tacos weren’t too bad, the fillings are generous and the grounded beef and chicken were well seasoned and moist, however, nothing special but then again I’m not much a fan of tacos so I guess I’m quite biased. I would have given this place three stars if it weren’t for the Mexican rice and enchiladas here. Beautiful, moist and flavoursome, delicious! So good they deserve that extra star just for that.
I love the décor and the cozy, family feel of the place as well. However, the place is quite big and there are spots in the restaurant where it’s a bit more quiet in which you can take someone on a date to.

If you’re in a rush for some quick eats after a day at the beach, this is not place for you. It takes a good 30mins for the entrees, and about an hour after that for the mains to arrive. Dessert will be rushed to you because its now 9pm and we are ready to close.
Also, peruse the drinks menu before you come, the staff haven’t drank many or any and won’t be able to make recommendations for you, but don’t go too fancy they probably don’t have it in stock…
The greatest dilemma is how dang tasty everything is. From the fresh Dips, to the Nachos on to the mains, flawless. the Sopapilla for desert was an unexpected tasty surprise, but the service and speed will just keep me away.

Poor service, wrong food delivered and entrée took 1hr to reach the table! Beware.
