A great place to grab a coffee, breakfast or light snack. Grabbed pancakes breakfast and coffee. Very good. Service was a little slow(understandable as they were packed, as always) but besides that no complaints(unless you count the high % of pretentious clients!). Great option on this busy strip.

I feel like I might be the odd one out in not rating Swedish Tarts at all but going out for breakfast is often the highlight of the week so if I’m disappointed the week is basically a write-off. I’ve been twice now because my partner is a huge fan and I so wanted to jump on the band-wagon. They don’t list their gluten-free items or even sport the usual asterisk implying that there are alternatives so I first assumed that the only gluten-free item was the muesli. I don’t know if that error is on me or not so I’m cautious to point the finger but the muesli came out with hot fruit which they might have noted but I didn’t see it mentioned anywhere, but in any case hot fruit is my nemesis and I tried so hard to get through it but I just couldn’t stomach it. We went back a few weeks later because I’m no quitter and I was assured a bad meal was rare. This time I asked if there were any other gluten-free items and was told that they can pretty much do anything gluten-free and they try to cater to allergies as much as possible and this much I can vouch for. So I ordered poached eggs with feta on gluten-free bread and boy was that a mistake. To their credit they seem to make their gluten-free bread in-house which would explain why it came out as completely raw in the middle. Because it came with feta I thought that it might be the cheese but I was so so wrong. I asked for some new bread and they were so apologetic and went to get me a replacement but it took another 30 minutes to come out which by this point my poached eggs had run through the dough and congealed while going completely cold. Pretty gross! I hate complaining so just asked if I could have a smoothie or something which they did but that worked out to be just me paying $ 20 for a smoothie and the replacement bread came out completely raw again. But my boyfriend got the breakfast flatbread which looked out of this world which probably made me even more bitter about the experience so I would take this a review more as a warning to other coeliacs. There is zero expectation that a place makes their own gluten-free bread so even just a cheap as gluten-free loaf from Coles would make most happy. The staff were super friendly even with an annoying coeliac sending back food, but I left pretty disappointed and won’t be going back.

Good food, the Crispy bacon flatbread was lacking abit on the bacon side. The omlette was mint. They dont offer flavoured syrups for your coffee choice. But the coffee is pretty good anyway so you don’t realy need it. Realy comfortable seating. Ill definitely be back.

Definetly a hot spot for semaphorians, always wonderful service and easily the largest«large» coffee I have ever seen! Wonderful staff and great if you’re lucky enough to snag a seat, which isn’t always possible with how busy it gets!

The food at this place is really good — daughter raved about Swedish Pancake and I had Flatbread egg and bacon which was really nice. It is kinda crowded with chairs and some of the chairs aren’t very comfy but the menu is vast and well priced. Will def be going back

Semaphore brings some stiff competition, but Swedish Tarts certainly delivers. I’ve had breakfast here a few times and the quality is always consistent. Their long blacks are served in a different way: they give you an espresso and a small container of hot water, so you can customise how ‘long’ it is. They do sweet and savoury breakfasts equally well and have a variety of vegan and gf options. My only suggestion would they invest in some signage for the tarts and cakes so you don’t have to ask what they are.

I have found my semaphore brekkie. I find myself in Adelaide twice a month and I will more than likely find myself at Swedish Tarts now twice a month too. It looks so small from the outside and nothing overly special but once you read the menu you will realised there is definitely something special about this place. I won’t go int detail about their menu as others have mentioned its greatness. I got the turmeric poached eggs which came with wilted spinach and feta on sourdough. They were cooked perfectly and the turmeric was an addition I hadn’t considered before but by gosh will I. Other orders from the table were the 3 egg omelette and the smoked salmon crêpe. There was plenty of compliments around both plates and I also feel the need to mention the orange juice that inspired the ‘best juice I have ever had’ quote. And to boot, it is great value!

This café is very popular. Whether it be the morning coffee run, or the weekend breakfast feast — this is a great place to come! They offer a variety of food to fit anyone’s tastes. The food is fresh & delicious and if would definitely recommend giving this place a look. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is great, the food is yummy and it’s an all-round great place!

Obviously very popular, we got one of the last tables for lunch and it was so worth it. Standouts we enjoyed were the Swedish 3 egg omelette, the rocket pumpkin Parmesan salad, and a fabulous big latte. We’ll definitely be back here in future!

Really great find(for me — I’m sure the locals know about it), stopped in here for breakfast on a short visit to Adelaide. Just a short stroll to Semaphore beach you can get a hearty Nordic breakfast, good coffee and something sweet if you dersire it. The tarts are lovely, come and see for yourself.

Swedish Tarts is one of the best cafes I’ve ever been to. The flatbreads are amazing. I had the breakfast flatbread and it was so good, a generous filling of bacon and perfectly soft eggs and the bread was so soft and fluffy. Perfect flat whites, perfect juices. Perfect atmosphere, service. Everything was wonderful. I can’t wait to go back!

We were looking for a cheap but nice lunch spot in semaphore; obviously sotos came to mind; but fried food — waistline. This spot came highly regarded via Unilocal; thanks guys. It was a Tuesday around 1pm and it was bustling — amazing sign. I got the mushroom, feta and olive frittata and it was delicious! My friend got the leek and mushroom tart, plus a lime tart. I tried a bit of both and the leek pie was amazing, as was the lime tart. Only down side is no pricing on the fresh and warmed goods, or even notes on which is which. Small but there you go.

Lovely every Sunday mornings, Non locals always come down from all sides of Town. The coffee’s are good! The Food is good, great menu to choose from! The only Swedish thing, close to a Swedish meal would be a Coffee(In a bowl) dill placed over the Salmon in the flat-bread. It doe’s give me a feeling of West-Finland, Sweden, Aland and Gotland. My four stars for the Swedish-Tarts.

Come on now, Ribena with fizzy soda water does not make a $ 5 blackcurrant soda! That aside, the tarts and cakes they have are fabulous. My favourite is lemon curd followed by macadamia. The breakfasts were quite large, he got the fat pancake with banana, bacon and maple syrup and I got scrambled eggs. The eggs did need seasoning but overall is was nice. Not spectacular but nice. His fat pancake was brilliant but they should avoid using the fatty bits of the bacon, perhaps just the eye? The buzz and atmosphere was great and the tarts are brilliant, hence why I am giving it a 4 star. All the staff were lovely, friendly and waaaay perky, which is always fun. Will defo be back for some pastries!

This place might have the title of a not-so-fancy Saturday night strip joint on Port Rd but instead it is cosy little café on Semaphore Rd that is a breakfast favourite for locals and Adelaide«tourists» alike. The place is decorated in a minimalist style, simple tables and chairs, some booths, couches, benches and basically anything that will fit more people in to this always packed brekkie and lunch café. If the 5m long menu board isn’t overwhelming enough for your taste buds make sure you DONOTLOOK at the food cabinet on the way up to making your order as it will just confuse you more. The first time I went here I was distracted by so many things on the menu that I went for the safe eggs and coriander on rye option. A bit disappointed at the cost versus size of the meal my experience was slightly tainted. But as I sipped on my Ginger Zinger drink that was like star anise and gingery lemon jesus juice in a cup I looked closer at the menu and at what people were eating. It seemed that their big pancake and their roti wraps are the way to go. Upon my return to give this place a second shot I ordered a vegetarian twist on a bacon and egg wrap and, despite a bucket load of sauce and a fair amount of oil, I was impressed. As Laura said though, aside from the Ginger Zinger, the other highlight here is the bowls of coffee they serve. Yes it is a bowl and it is filled with smooth, creamy coffee goodness for you to dip your whole face into. Also don’t go past their gluten free desserts here! Their lemon curd cake is delicious.

This café has just extended into the building next door which used to be a dry cleaners, so now there’s twice the space to get tarty. You could see the staff were excited about the extension, eagerly unpacking boxes of lights and chatting with everyone about the change. This café has a really nice community feel, and everyone seems to know each other. The café itself is rustic and inviting and bright, with comfy chairs and Jack Johnson playing in the background. I munched on some delicious hazelnut biscuits and enjoyed the coffee, which was strong but in a very good, properly made way. I took a chocolate ganache tart to go and it was sinfully good. I couldn’t finish it bit was wracked with guilt at wasting such a wonderful dessert. What a lovely place, I can’t wait to return.

This quaint Swedish café is good — yah! CAKESANDTARTS You can buy massive whole cakes and tarts, but I opted for a much smaller individual rhubarb tart, which was delicious. BREAKFAST Along with the plethora of tasty cakes and pastries, the café serves breakfast all day. I had some lovely free range scrambled eggs with chilli and coriander on toast here. My bloke seemed to enjoy the Big Fat Swedish Pancake with crispy fried bacon and Lingonberry Jam. DRINKS The café also serves fantastic coffee — including tasty iced coffee, which the staff were happy to add an extra shot of coffee to. SERVICE The service is friendly and efficient even when the venue is busy.

HOWDID I NOTNOWABOUTTHISCAFEUNTILRECENTLY? Sorry for the all caps tirade: but I’m just that excited. I visit sleepy Semaphore quite a lot, as the old parent-shaped people live that way, and it was only relatively recently that I stumbled across this haven of Scandinavian delights. And I’m not just talking about the cute mustachioed barista. Complementing the birch tree wall art and Viking paraphernalia(I’m a huge sucker for Viking paraphernalia) is a tasty menu of baked goodies that are fresh, sweet and plentiful — as well as Swedish-inspired specialties like elderflower drinks and traditional waffles. Any country that has a TRADITION of waffles is all right by me. They seem to be undergoing renovations at the moment, but the place is still very cute, with kitschy Swedish accessories, some chandelier action, as well as the aforementioned radical Viking stuff. There always seems to be a queue here which is also a good sign — and, super importantly, the coffee is solid. ALSO: THEYSERVECOFFEEIN A BOWL. A bowl, people. Further evidence that this is my kind of place.

I was brought here by a friend who enjoyed coming to this café. It does not look like much, especially in comparison to other cafes you can find on Semaphore Road, but it was definitely enjoyable. With large coffee mugs it is definitely worth having a coffee here for what you pay, especially in comparison to what other cafes serve their coffee in, and the selection of cakes and other foods is great. I personally loved the poppyseed and lemon cheesecake, going down a treat with my cappuccino. Filled with Swedish foods there is always something interesting to pick out from the menu. Also, they have an all day breakfast, and who can go past that?
