Yummy food but if you turn up to this place after 10pm be expected to hurry up, eat, drink then go. We felt so pushed to decide on last drinks and food that it really took anyway the enjoyment. Bill was on the table before we knew it.

Ola Mexican lovers. I just found taco paradise! The Mexican food from Radio Mexico will leave you craving more & more. honestly the food is ridiculous! Fresh, authentic flavours using high quality produce. The chefs are delightful and are more than happy to explain what they are cooking as you pass them on your way into this quirky Mexican haven. Ample seating both in and out with a vibrant & playful Mexican interior. Staff are friendly(shame we happened to get probably the most rudest waitress working but I’ll ignore her behavior given the food was delicious!) The menu is a little hard to read(literally the place is so dark) but the dishes are designed for sharing. The taco menu is extensive and I recommend getting at least 2 to try. I went pork belly with pineapple and then the black bean fry(saaaaaah good!) In addition we shared a number of mains including the chicken stew, pulled beef enchiladas and sesame lamb cutlets. The tacos were definitely the stand out and would get me returning on my next trip to Melbourne!

Radio Mexico is one of my top 5 restaurants in Melbourne. It is my go to recommendation when someone asks me where to go in St Kilda! The food is delicious, fresh and full of flavour! The décor is fun Tex Mex inspired complete with cactus’, day of the dead skulls and Mexican blankets. There is seating both in and outside(the outside is lovely in summer). Radio Mexico takes bookings at the door, often for larger groups they will put you on a waiting list. But believe me it is worth the wait, grab a beer at a local pub and wait to be summoned. The cocktails are amazing, but like any good Mexican restaurant you cannot go past a margarita! The have a number of varieties, have fun trying them all. At certain times they have 2 for one specials, these are fantastic but deadly because they are hard to refuse! Most importantly the food! I always start with corn chips and guacamole, you can’t beat this fresh start to a meal, I follow that with a serve of Mexican corn, which is so succulent that my mouth waters just thinking about it! Lastly I order some delicious tacos, my faves are the prawn and also the beer battered fish! They often have a special taco and they rarely disappoint. Radio Mexico is a must try, I have never been disappointed by the food, service, drinks or atmosphere! It gets my 5 star rating… I would go higher if I could!

I loved this place, from the fit out to the staff and food, its just brilliant. Kids menu if you need it too. The food is the best Mexican in Melbourne. The green rice and fish tacos I will crave until next time…

Sydney, you have got to get your act together. Mexican in Melbourne is whipping your arse. This is such a funky little place. My sister introduced me to Radio Mexico A couple of years ago, and I recall being completely blown away by it. I had tried some crab and corn Tostaditas, that had seared their way into my brain at the time, and I had been almost DYING to give Mal the experience. Funnily enough, hitting them yesterday, I was all a bit«Meh» I kind of thought that they had had a bit more zing, or pop to them, but it may have been the order in which things were served yesterday that messed with my taste-buds. The fish taco arrived first. This time, the waiter urged me to try the fried fish taco, rather than the grilled one(Though I recall the grilled one as being rather fabulous last time anyway.) however, he was not wrong. It was a complete Ping! Pop! Kabang! POW! in the mouth. Juicy delicious salady slaw stuff, with a bit of fire. Mal ordered some pulled pork Carnitas that featured the most divine slow cooked pork, beans, corn, coriander, etc. Just yummy. Their cocktails are bloody good too, and there’s usually a bit of a show going on behind the bar, with a fair bit of bottle flipping to pass the time between orders. Go on! Get it all in your belly! You know you want to!

All time favourite Mexican in Melbourne! The most delicious tacos(definitely order any of the fish, prawn or pork), best corn on the Cobb, great guacamole and awesome margaritas! This place is fun and relaxed. Great place for friends on weekends or for a midweek Mexican fix. You can never order to much as everything tastes amazing. Staff friendly, vibe cool, food off the hook.

So, this is really excellent Mexican. If you like Mexican, then don’t hesitate to check it out. I finally visited with two girlfriends this last long weekend. We sat outdoors and it is gorgeous(if a little less comfortable than it could be with a couple of cushions on offer). There is a great shade cloth up and so it was really nice. We ordered salsa and guacamole(obviously) with corn chips. I could have gone without the salsa– not amazing and the guacamole was pretty good. Not blowing my socks off amazing but pretty good! The tacos however were ridiculously delicious. At around $ 7.50 each they are on the pricey side, but gosh darn they are excellent. I had the grilled fish which was as good as any fish taco I’ve had in Melbourne, fresh and spicy, yum yum, and the prawn taco which was also excellent. We had a couple of drinks too and with a tip was under $ 35 each. Not bad. Service was friendly and super prompt. Very impressed. Yum!

If you like good Mexican food then come here! It has a nice spin on the traditional items. I enjoyed 3 types of tacos, all were huge! Fish, lamb and pork. Bueno!

Tired of waiting for the place to open. Unilocal says it opens at 4 but the restaurant employees said 5. Showed back up at 5:05 and all of the cooks were outside smoking at the front door and said to come back in another 5 minutes. Sorry but you lost a customer

Radio mexico is a place I keep coming back to. Great drinks and casual service, the tacos are really tasty with fresh ingredients(consistently) — they offer a contemporary take on traditional Mexican, so don’t be surprised when things taste different. The décor is great, if you’re hosting a memorable event like a birthday dinner people will remember the venue. Like all good places it can get busy, so make sure you aren’t in a rush or try to visit off-peak. Corn on the cob is great, but you may need to floss ;)

Restaurant came recommended from friend — Food was exceptionally tasty, however service was incredibly poor — waitresses were terribly rude and not friendly. Tainted experience — would not recommend for this reason.

Had an awesome dinner with work colleagues here earlier this week. Service was friendly, informative and helpful; we were easily accommodated despite being a group of 7 on a busy evening. It was two-for-one Margarita Monday which was handy on the pocket but almost too tempting; they had nice punch of citrus with a slightly sweet undercurrent and a very generous rim of salt. The menu also had some great local beers which I always like to see — bonus when they taste good too! We started with guacamole and chips — simple but one of the tastiest variations I’ve tried! I had the cochinita pebil taco(slow roasted suckling pig), which was the dish that Jonny Depp killed for in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’ and this execution didn’t disappoint — the meat was flavourful and juicy, with a nice kick from the chilli. We shared main dishes — the mole was ok, and the pork belly tasty but super rich; it was the albondigas that really stood out for me. They were meaty and delicious, nicely spicy and great for sharing. We didn’t have room for dessert — maybe next time as this spot was cute. colourful and perfect for a relaxed night out with friends!

Really, really impressed with this place! Service was super friendly and FAST(which is especially impressive due to how busy the place was on a Saturday night), cool décor — especially in the bathrooms, which I know is a strange thing to say… — and amazing, delicious, fresh Mexican-style food! I echo the sentiments of many Unilocalers before me when I say that the homegrown chipotle sauce is enough of a reason for a visit in itself. The margarita was just the icing on the delicious, delicious Mexican cake. We’ll be back!

This is a fun spot for casual Mexican inspired fare. Margaritas were damn good: The perfect balance of sweet and sour, with a glass rimmed with rock salt. Really smashing. The pork, carne asada and grilled fish tacos were tasty, if not the most authentic. Carne asada is usually served with chopped onion and coriander, not masses of beans, but you know: Australia. Hot sauce wasn’t on every table(which is nuts at a Mexican place) but we were told it was available. I loved the simple jicama salad dressed with lime juice and chile powder. It was a great accompaniment to all the meaty goodness going on with the tacos. Service was friendly if a bit haphazard: They gave us tacos that we hadn’t ordered, which ended up being eaten but also added to the bill. Seems a table of seven is a bit too much for the servers to keep track of. Hmmm. I would return here but I wasn’t blown away.

Whats not to like about Radio Mexico? Excellent location in St Kilda, Terrific Tacos, cute outdoor terrace and delicious cocktails. Had dinner here a few Saturdays ago and really enjoyed the experience. Had a classic Margarita and Guacamole for starters followed by pulled pork and taco’s. Absolutely delicious. Staff were really attentive in a non creepy way and I loved the colorful décor. Can’t wait for summer to come back so I can spend lazy Sunday lunches with friends there…

Look. I love Mexican food. I don’t care if you don’t care or how many times I’ve said it or even mentioned it in my reviews… I’m pretty sure it’ll come up again. Anywayz, I really wanted to give Radio Mexico 5 stars but, after having been to San Diego or even Olvera Street in LA(No no. I’m not being an arrogant prick, just keeping it honest and objective), I believe that 4 stars sounds about right. We had dinner on Sat night. It was quite busy, which is to be expected really as it is a really cool place and the food is really good. We shared the Pork Belly and spiced rice(Wow. That rice was good and the pork belly. hmm. delicious) plus I had a chicken taco as well as the pulled pork taco. They were pretty good but they were not(what’s the word I’m looking for… ah!) tits you know! Don’t get me wrong, compared to say… Senoritas, Radio Mexico definitely wins the challenge and I will return because I want to try other things on the menu; however when it comes to authenticity, well…

You know what? I’m going to update my review and lay 5 stars on this baby because after being a customer for a year now I can say that I’ve always received friendly service, tasty tacos(if not altogether authentic) and other Mexican influenced dishes that are great for sharing(I’m looking at you civeche). Bonus points for the margaritas which have been spot on every single time. The best bit? I always leave feeling like I’ve had an excellent night for not a whole lot of cash.

Coming from California and having been to Mexico, I can guarantee that I’ve had authentic Mexican. I think this is probably the closest I’ve had to it here in Australia although it misses being Authentic by far. I might just be picky about my Mexican food though. The one thing that is going good for them is their main dishes. We shared the Meatball dish(sorry can’t remember the name) and it was excellent! I do think that the green rice was a bit lacking in flavor though and I had to add the sauce and crema to it for flavor. The tacos are quite filling though, but the Pollo one that I had seemed to be a bit lacking in flavor as well. I’m a big person for spices and they just seemed like they needed something added. My husband had a fish taco(he wanted to compare to the proper Mexican ones he’s had) and was impressed with it having a bit of a bite! Their special margarita was a coconut milk and vanilla margarita. Although the first batch that came to us wasn’t impressive on taste(minus the tequila), I have it a second chance and my second one was absolutely amazing! I’m looking forward to seeing if they end up doing a pomegranate or strawberry one! The service was quite so-so. We were pointed to our table, not walked and it took a whole to even get a drink menu. The waiter never brought us our water and I had to ask for it with our chips and salsa. They’re prompt on refilling drinks but attention wise they are a big lacking. Hoping it was just a day where they were just lacking in staff because I really want to try the potato and chorizo quesadilla!

With a mouth watering menu and authentic ingredients it was hardly surprising that on a Tuesday night we were told it would be an hour and half wait for a table. We decided to sit outside on the street which meant no alcohol but hey that was ok… we had virgin cocktails. Must trys here are the pork belly, melts in your mouth + the prawn and slaw taco.
