I wasn’t sure what to expect from Lona, with tapas style venues being a bit of an ‘in thing’ at the moment, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. We had the 9 course degustation for $ 39 per person which is great value. You think you might not end up full from the series of small tasting portions but we were actually stuffed by the end of it.
The flavours were excellent and the pace was good too; the dishes didn’t all come out at once but there wasn’t too long of a wait in between each dish. I have to say it’s an impressive and important aspect to nail, as so many tasting plates suffer from either throwing everything at you at once (resulting in some dishes going cold by the time you get to them) or leaving you waiting, and waiting, and waiting, wondering if you’ll ever get out of the restaurant or leaving you starving.
Left wanting to come back and try every item on the menu, so I’m not sure it gets much better than that!

Sensational new St Kilda bar with massive outdoor area and sensational food.
We enjoyed a long lunch there and couldn’t ask for anything more. Staff were terrific, vibe was right and on a sunny day, the outdoor area is unbeatable.
On the day we were there, they had live music. Just a great place…
