I feel so lucky that this market is a short walk away from my place every Saturday. The first time I shopped here I was shocked by how cheap it was. Now I know that there’s cheap and super cheap amongst the different stalls. There’s also a range in quality, so browse along all the stalls before you get your wallet out. It’s small enough to enable this. My favourite stall is the nuts/seeds/dried fruit. So much cheaper than supermarkets and you can ask them anything. The dude will also throw in free jokes. They stock a homemade, sugar free peanut butter that is to die for. But hands off — it’s mine! There’s fresh flowers at prices cheap enough to make florists cry. Treat yourself. All this plus you’re supporting farmers. A huge win all round.

An excellent market providing fresh fruit and veggies 50 Saturdays mornings a year. Prices and quality can vary a lot from vendor to vendor so I pays to do a walk through before you start your buying. Hang around till 12 for some great bulk buys.

Why would you shop for fruit and vegetables at a supermarket ever again? These markets have a great selection of local fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, fresh fish, cheese, fresh flowers and plants, and small goods. Not to mention great coffee and some quick breakfast eats while you strut around with your granny trolley. Buy what’s local and what’s in season. Everyone wins — wallet, stomach, stall holders and environment. Also, great for B-Grade celebrity spotting. I am averaging one a week here! Or perhaps I need new glasses…
