I’ve walked into this place before and walked back out. They have such a big range and everything looked a little bit too sweet for my liking. But this time, with its reminder signs of preordering for Greek Easter, I decided that it’s authentic Greek and must try. Places like these are hard to come by in the East. Due to their large selection, I had soooo much trouble deciding so I allowed other patrons to order to see what they bought. Anyway. I could have bought everything there to try. But did manage to control my gluttony. Will be going back to try their savoury items as well as slowly make my way thru their selection as I was thoroughly impressed by their goods. My eyes have deceived me. It’s been a while since that has happened. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s old school. But done well they definitely know what they are doing.

This is my happy place. And what a wonderful, happy place it is. Their cake selection has gone noticeably fancier over the years but they still make my favs, the vanilla slice(which is now called mille fueille, excusez moi) and the profiteroles… the once cool bite-size pastry before macarons overtook every bakery in Syd. Both their individual serving and party cakes are delicious and well prized. I’ve noticed the café has gone quieter in recent years, possibly because sugar is poison now and no one wants a cake made with flour and cream instead of raw yak milk and activated broccolini… none of those here, just bloody great cakes.

This place is the real deal alright. Extended opening hours make it quite convenient for pickups. Cakes taste as good as they look. They’ve never let me down.

The cake range is excellent here — lots to choose from! The only problem was I thought the cakes looked better than they tasted. Staff were friendly and you can choose to sit inside or outside. I have very high standards when it comes to eating desserts. on the plus side their presentation had a wow factor!

Outstanding cakes. Always my go-to for special occasions. Several great options but my favourite is the Japanaise, which is perfectly balanced. Call ahead for holidays because they get super busy!

Very good selection if cakes found here. The family enjoys the vanilla slice and banana cream pie. Coffee is ok too.

This place certainly lives up to its name, with a huge selection of cakes and pastries to choose from. They also have rice pudding, and some gluten free options. Coffee was great. Pain au Chocolat delicious, with all the chocolate loaded down towards one end I was approaching chocolate overload. With a mix of indoor and outdoor seating this is a nice place to satisfy your sweet tooth and relax in the sun, or just stop in for a coffee — the service is pretty quick.

A local hotspot. I always pop by for a sugar fix, which I often get. I can’t account for the coffee or the food but the desserts are rich, beautifully presented and always satisfies. The best dessert fare in the Randwick/Coogee area.

Gonzie and I went to the movies at the Randwick Ritz and before the movie he was starving(even though he had just eaten breakfast) and I wanted a coffee so we called into the Sweet Spot. I had a Cappuccino, which was good but ordinary, but I’ve had much better and Gonzie had a skim, decaf cappuccino(I am not sure what the point of that is really it is like a cruel tease). We shared an amazing little vanilla Panacotta thing which he wasn’t crazy about but I thought was divine, apart from the vanilla it tasted of Ferrero Roche, loved it. The service was really slow though, we had completely finished the Panacotta by the time the coffee arrived and we were almost late for the movie. PS. Gonzie was still hungry and bought popcorn at the movie, can you believe it?

I was confused by the authenticity of this Greek pastry shop because of its distinct Parisian vibe and un-Greek name. Both the décor and the cakes available could have been transported directly from France, but I failed to spot the trays oozing with baklava and other, more Grecian, delicacies. Nevertheless, the intrigue got me over the threshold, and I’m glad it did. Fresh fruit tarts, strawberry tarts, chocolate mud cake, white chocolate mousse, vanilla pannacotta and beautiful macaroons stared at me, and I longed to eat them all. With great effort and restraint, I restricted myself to a glossy slice of chocolate mud cake. It was delicious — thick icing sandwiched between slices of squidgy sponge and garnished with a decadent chocolate curl. Without wishing to sound greedy, however, I thought the slice was a bit on the meagre side, considering the hefty $ 5 price tag. The macaroons were delicious — one looked minty green but actually turned out to be pistachio, and the other was brown and reassuringly chocolatey. I liked their cake, but I thought the service was a bit sirly. I came in with a friend and her two young children. A glass of water was accidentally spilled, and the waitress practically told me off for mopping it up with ‘her’ paper napkins rather than asking for a cloth. Slightly unnecessary, I thought. I can’t decide if I’ll be back here or not. The cakes were faultless — sweet and everything a cake should be. However, it’s not as if Sydney has a shortage of beautiful bakeries and patisseries, and I felt that it wasn’t such good value for money or authentic as some other bakeries. Still, I’m in the area, I’d probably give it another go.
