De Costi is the one stop destination for seafood. Well known and trusted brand with various shops across Sydney. Fast service, excellent range and choice and always fresh. I’ve never had an issue or suspect product from them. The experience of seeing such a range is pretty cool. But don’t forget you’ll pay more for the quality

I always go to De Costis. I live pretty much a cross the road to the fish markets and I’ve tried them all, I always end up at decostis, they have the freshest seafood at generally the best price. I bought 1kg of tiger prawns around 6 months ago, when I took them home and started eating them most of that batch was mushy, still safe and fresh, but for some reason they were mushy, although I was initially disappointed, I reached out to them and told them about the batch I bought, they not only were happy to replace the prawns, but they also threw In another kg as compensation. With seafood, there will be times when things just aren’t as good as they should be, that is how Mother Nature is, but it is how the retailer looks after its customers post-purchase that to me makes going to de Costis a no brainer. I know that if for some freak bit of bad luck the seafood lets me down, they will rectify the issue with a smile on their face.

Like others who have reviewed this shop, its my go to for seafood. Every other weekend I’m guaranteed to be picking up some salmon and other bits and pieces for a grocery shop. It’s clean, smells OK(for a fish shop) and have a great number of options without getting into the whole cooking stuff on premises that I don’t like. I’ve found the seafood to be pretty good quality as well and has a quick turnover. Highly recommend for your fortnightly fish shop — very attentive servers and happily will fillet or cut the fish any way you want.

This is generally my one stop seafood shop at the Sydney Fish Markets. Through my own experience, I find the seafood at De Costi’s of consistently high quality. I’m sure you can get better prices or possibly find better quality in pockets around the fish markets but you won’t lose anything from solely shopping at De Costi. They have half a dozen breeds of oysters, various prawns and a huge selection of fish. The sashimi bar is busy and is of the greatest quality. Due to the high turnover you can be guaranteed that it will be fresh. There is quite a large frozen, pre packaged section which I have never really checked out to the distractions of the fresh stuff in the main store. During the busy periods(Christmas etc) they setup a little tent for payment and it is never a chore to pay for your purchases like it can be at some stalls.

I go out of my way to come to De Costi since they always have the freshest fish around and they will tell you which just came in. Recently they had about 6 different types of prawns and I got to try them all until I choose the wild Mooloolaba one. Really good. Great, friendly staff. I like the filleted fish but it is more expensive than the whole fish and the best tip here is to find the fish you want and get them to filet the whole thing — then you get the ‘whole fish’ price which can be as little as half the cost of the filleted price. Of course the weight of the head and bones is lost but it is quite a savings and you know it is probably a bit fresher, too. If you are into some of the more exotic seafood they have a great selection as well — I found a few different types of octopus and clams. What I like the best about this location is the consistently good quality. After all, fresh and quality are two descriptors I want for seafood and De Costi never disappoints.
