We hadn’t previously been to the Mount Erica even though new locals as it seemed more of a Tab drinking place but we’re surprised when we came by this evening to find the bistro being upgraded with a nice atmosphere and new menu they’ve been working on. More tapas and group sharing options and everything we had was great. Wine list small but with all you’d need. The bistro is also in a large timber floored room with long bar to one side so would be great for functions if they do those which we assume they do as there was a Rotary club meeting in a side room. Outside courtyard area too. Will be back.

We were informed that there were no vegetables available because their delivery had not arrived that day. Which is bizarre to make it to dinner and not bother as a restaurant to take matters into your own Hand. The food also took a long time to come. The food was average and it just wasn’t a great experience. I won’t be going back!

Well, if you thought that all of the pubs in Toorak were glitzy affairs for the rich and famous then you would be wrong. Okay, maybe it is not Toorak, but it is close enough for me to consider it to be a Toorak pub(according to Google Maps it is actually in Prahran). Anyway, this pub is basically your every day local suburban pub, far enough away from the glamour of Chapel street to avoid all of the trendy crowds. So, when I wondered in here for a beer one evening I discovered that it was full of, surprise, surprise, normal people. The pub itself have a few events that it runs, and there is also a pretty cool beer garden, but if you are looking for the trendy crowd that plies Chapel Street on a Friday and Saturday night, then unfortunately you have walked a bit too far and left it all behind. Still, I quite liked this pub, the quaint atmosphere and all that, but with the skyrocketing price of property in the area(hold it, hasn’t property always been expensive here?) expect the quaint ambience of this place to change.

Quite good here despite the fact that it’s attached to a Tab sports bar, which represents the lowest level of human existence possible outside of crown casino’s night clubs. So out of the rather unappealing bar area, and into the pleasant and hits the mark dining room. There’s a courtyard out back, a bistro, and a few beers on tap. The dining menu is pretty good and hits some good dishes. Live music on Sunday, and a Sunday roast special. Couches and plenty of seating available.

I was really impressed with my night out to Mt Erica in Prahran. I’m not usually a huge fan of steak, but the meal I was served was a ripper. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium, and lo and behold it came out medium. Perfect amount of pink, and when you slice the knife through the juices flow. The servings are very decent, I struggled to finish my meal, though I couldn’t bear to leave any as it was so nice. The prices are pretty reasonable, and for Prahran, they boarder on a bargain. Another standout was the garlic bread, though be warned, it is seriously garlicky! My husband wouldn’t go near me for three days after! I am looking forward to going back to Mt Erica, hopefully my wonderful experience wasn’t a fluke.
