Make your way up the somewhat steep set of dimly lit stairs and you’ll find yourself inside the chic surroundings of Electric Ladyland. Beautifully decked out with red leather couches, and very large and fully stocked bar and some very interesting artwork indeed. Electric Ladyland has a sort of French Parisian feel to it, there is a huge Eiffel Tower statue in one corner for one and the black and red colour scheme seem to hint towards a typically European atmosphere. During the early afternoon Electric Ladyland partakes in happy hour, where beer, wine and basics are all about $ 4. They have quite a good range of beer on tap and a nice balcony that let’s you look down upon Chapel Street beneath. On the weekends the venue is more of a club, the host local dj’s and play a range of commercial and house music. If you are heading to Electric on a weekend make sure you get in line early as they often reach full capacity before midnight.

I love the name of this place… Electric Ladyland. I also love the massive bar which means its relatively easy to get a drink even when it is packed. I think It attracts a pretty good crowd, not the pretentious types which can be found in the vacinity. I have noticed one thing to be missing from this vencu, there is no dance floor. I have found this very disappointing(obviously as I have wanted to dance and found there is just not enough room when its busy). Apart from this it’s a great venue.

Electric Ladyland is a modern classic lounge bar on Chapel St where you feel like you’re living it up as soon as you walk up the stairs to European inspired furnishings. The comfy red couches are a great idea and really make the place appealing. It has a relaxingly classy feel, which is hard to pull off but they make it look easy. When you’re in there you feel like lashing out a bit and getting one of their many cocktails or boutique beers. The central bar with a smokers balcony and a cool, stylish décor means it’s a great place to go with a few friends where it’s nice to dress up a little nicer and enjoy some of life’s finer aspects. Enjoy a wine or champagne and as it gets later don’t be afraid to try a music themed cocktail such as the«Smells like green spirits» or «Bohemian Raspberry». Great idea!

One of Chapel Streets newer nightspots, Electric Ladyland is a nice place to come if you’re having a get together or want a cool place to have a few drinks. There are lots of different seating areas for small groups and a very spacious main area with an island bar making it easy to be seen when you want to get your next drink. They also have a balcony overlooking Chapel Street. There is generally a strict dress code but somehow one day I got in with my track pants and slippers on. Maybe it because I make them look good.
