Moreton Island Adventures

I went glamping (glamorous camping) and had the best experience! We had about 15 in our group and went on a Moreton Island 4WD Tour that made our weekend in Moreton Island unforgettable.
Our tour guide was Grant and he made feel so welcome from the get go. He greeted us when we were finding a park as we were leaving ours since we booked a tour. If you have 4WD, you can take it to the island because you’ll definitely need it.
Our weekend was jam packed with activities. Once we gathered all our luggage in our vehicle, we headed straight to the desert to learn how to sand board. The weather was absolutely perfect and Grant taught us how to sand board as none of us had been before. He was a great teacher! There were a few who were super nervous and shy and he was able to encourage them and they eventually went down with a big smile and mouth full of sand!
Then we went swimming in the blue lagoon and did flips, had water fights, and welcomed the cool fresh water after being in the desert! We then went to a gorgeous lookout where the light tower was and learned a lot of history about the island. Finally, we watched the sunset as we headed to Castaways where we would stay over.
The tents were fabulous! In mine, we had a queen size bed and then bunk beds. The shower and toilet were clean and fit in well with the atmosphere. I felt like I was still camping but a bit more comfortable. After showering and unpacking, we cooked our food over the BBQ and ate together in the open kitchen. Then, we had night caps by the campfire and then went to the beach which we have access.
The next day, we woke up and had a delicious breakfast before we went snorkeling at the Shipwrecks. We had a great time but I wish we could have seen more underwater creatures. We were able to relax a bit and swim or layout on the beach for the rest of the day. We headed back to Castaways to have lunch before packing up and heading back to Brisbane. I would have gladly stayed a few more nights. Our expert guide Grant was the best and made sure we had the time of our lives. I highly recommend this weekend getaway!
