Just finished a complimentary week at Queen Street Gym. I actually only went three days, although it’s clear you’re welcome to go every day during their free trial period. I did the 6am box and bike class for those three days. The class was well attended with all ages and sizes. I noticed the staff made an effort to greet everyone individually, even down to their names. That’s great service. The classes essentially follow the same routine: warm up, then alternative sessions at the nifty boxing station or you’re on your bike, sunshine. It’s a decent workout to a fairly fast pace(and great accompanying music that’s LOUD) but you control your own intensity. I had the same trainer — an extremely competent lass who is an high ranking amateur boxer herself. I had hoped for at least one other trainer to take a class, just so I could compare. Note: this is not a complaint. I really enjoyed the classes, but at $ 25 a session, the price is really too high. There are other options to bring the price down a little, but still, when I’m paying only $ 14/week unlimited at another facility, the choice(for me) is obvious. I also don’t care for the spam I’ve been receiving on my phone, urging me to join up. I shouldn’t have to ask more than once for that to stop. That being said, it’s a fabulous set up, a different style, unarguably an high intensity work out that I thought was quite enjoyable. And any trainer who belts out some Faithless first thing in the AM to get me jeed up wins my vote!

Queen St Gym is a relative newbie who run 45 minute Box and Bike classes 6 days a week. If you head to their Facebook page it h as all their class times. The first class is free too, so you can give it a go. It’s a great workout, essentially 7 rounds of 2 minutes on the Boxmaster and then 2 minutes on the spin bike. It’s a fast, intense workout and a whole lot of fun in a beautiful refurbed building. Give it a go!
