I discovered this little gem a few years back. At first I was a bit cautious as from afar it looks as though the place doesn’t have much on offer. Once I stepped inside the store it reminded me so much of the shops on the higher levels of the KLCC towers in Kuala Lumpur. Lots of quirky different designs made with synthetic materials. They have some really cool stuff but as you would expect from products being made from synthetic materials, they don’t wear as well as leather would. I bought two pairs of work shoes for $ 35 each. I got a heap of compliments about the shoes. One pair did break after a week but it was an easy repair and then they lasted for quite a while. If you desire something unique at a cheaper price, drop into Olive and take a look.

Olive shoes appears to be a store for older women, a lot older women, that grandma kind of comfort style if you know what I mean; I don’t really know why, it just has no life to it, it smells like leather and has wacky designs. Minus the awquard smell, the untrendy décor and odd collection, Olive Shoes has unique designs that can be worn quite well, something a little different and a little funkier than at generic shoe stores. Their sandals are the only thing I really look at, that and their shoulder bags which are well priced for the quality. Olive Shoes is one of those stores that you can find something individual and get loads of comments because when paired with some trendy clothing, known one knows the price tag.

Upon first glance, Olive Shoes is the kind of store you’d walk straight past because of the smell of synthetic leather. It’s not the place I’d go to shop, but as is the case with books and front covers, don’t judge this shop on first inspection. I’m the kind of gal who appreciates a decent, well made pair of shoes with a funky design. Unfortunately, Olive doesn’t do the former, but they’ve got the latest styles here for cheap as chips. I found a pair of Zomp’s cut-out brogues I’d been lusting for at Olive for $ 25. True, they’re mass manufactured and made from man-mad material, but helloooo? They were $ 25! I spotted a number of other cool styles within, but sadly all were too small for my trans-gender sized feet. The clothing was fairly generic, but their studded«leather» bags were pretty cool and definitely mimicked the styles that Witchery are currently doing. If you’re not ashamed to rock the faux, give them a go!
