who doesnt love a party pie? some people eat cheese cake when they are feeling a bit down, I like a selection of party pies and sausage rolls to stuff my face with. They are so good peeps! They have won a few awards so give them a go. I like to pretend they are full sized and I’m a giant snacking on them. Gets me through the blues. Their rolls are great as well. Very well priced and they stuff them full of what ever you want.

So, imagine this… I start a new job and one of my duties is planning a special birthday and going-away luncheons. Nothing like being tried on the first week of work. These fellow coworkers are leaning on me to make budget and have a tasty and filling lunch. There are plenty of tasty places around… it is the«budget» area that is the problem in Perth. Coworkers suggest«Golden Bakery». Of course there is no website for Golden Bakery. Calling in is inaudible due to background noise. I say fine, I’ll just go in. I mean what’s the issue… it isn’t like I’m on crutches! I call the number listed for directions and ask if they are behind The Moon and Sixpence. The man on the phone says yes. I hobble ALL through the food court behind the Moon and guess what, no Golden Bakery. So, I hobble outside and call again and I get a different person. I ask where they are located. She doesn’t understand me. I ask again. She says, «We closed. Come back tomorrow.» I said, «Well, your store hours are to 6:00 pm and it is 5:30 pm.» And, she says, «We closed early. I’m home now.» Well… I also would like to be home but I’m not. I’m hobbling around looking for your business trying to give you money like a fool. That is some mighty fine customer service. I realize this situation is exacerbated by me being in crutches but why wouldn’t the previous employee tell me that they were leaving early when I just got off the phone with them? I’m irritated as all get out and will not be back.

This is a great little bakery, it is cheap, which is always a good thing for a struggling student. The best thing about it is the cakes. They are tasty and well tasty! I had a delicious brownie last time I went. I mean most brownies are tasty but some bakeries don’t quite get it right. Golden Bakery did and it cost $ 2.50 :O It doesn’t get much better than that!

If you ever find yourself in the city with a few dollars in your pocket and a hunger pit in your stomach, my money is on Golden Bakery. They can provide sweet or savoury dollars that will fill your stomach and make you happy for a minuscule cost. I went in with a five dollar note and came out with a fudge slice for me and a marshmellow slice for the brother. Reviews on all sides? Amazing. And for the Aussie blokes out there, they do a killer meat pie or a sausage roll. Freshest ingredients and so much better than the cr*p you’ll buy at the servo. Also, for the Aussie women. I believe we can do a meat pie just as well as the boys. The place was buzzing at about 2pm, which is well after the lunch rush so I suggest getting there with plenty of time to peruse the lovely baked good before you have to get in line. It’s right near the train station and the main shopping district in the CBD, or in other words, location, location, location. A must for anyway who lives/works/is always in the city.
