City provisions is a great place to get a cheap lunch or breakfast. Options include rice paper rolls in a variety of flavours(duck, chicken, beef) for $ 4.50, fresh banhi mi rolls for $ 6.95 with no extra cost for toppings like coriander, cucumber and chilli(I recommend the satay chicken that comes with succulent pieces of chicken in a delicate satay sauce), Vietnamese salads that are massive for $ 6.95, sandwiches, and even freshly made coffee. What a great, cheap and cheerful place with quick service. Beat the lunch rush and head into city provisions.

OMG! Made-to-order roast pork bahn mi! Juicy, succulent roast pork with crispy crackling in a fresh and soft roll, plenty of salad and dressing for flavour. So good.

A handy little supermarket in the city that is run by a Vietnamese family who make the most amazing Bahn Mi’s(sorry if this is misspelt). These are French style baguette’s filled with pâté, mixed cold meats, carrot, cucumber and coriander. Ask for extra chillis for a lip sizzling Vietnamese meat roll.

Yes, they an amazing selection of fresh and packaged foods. But, what’s with the $$ side of things? Items rarely get rung up, cash goes in open till drawers, receipts are never given. If you guys are cooking the proverbial books or dodging the ATO, you need to be less obvious about it!

This is a really great lunch time spot. I had the most delicious curry when I met my mum there. Not only is it a delicious place to grab lunch but they sell a load of English chocolates, so after what was a large and filling lunch, I then moved on to two lion bars and a fudge bar. Highly unnecessary, and the reason my waist line is increasing and bank balance decreasing.

What a find this place is! They have a legit Irish and UK sweets section! They have all of them too, not just a token bar of Dairy Milk here and there — there’s Toffee Crisp, Starbars, all of the ones you love but had probably forgotten even existed! And unlike those novelty sweet shops littering the town, they don’t overcharge you for the nostalgic pleasure! It’s a dream come true! As well as that it’s a great place to grab a tasty lunch on your break at work — a deli counter for sandwiches and a hot counter for pies and curries if you need to warm up after sitting in an air conditioned building all morning! Truly a haven on Hay Street!

Unlike Gangemi’s next door, city provision focusses more on convenience than gourmet dinner ingredients. If you get fed up of the café products up and down Hay St. then jump in here, you are bound to find what you are looking for, there’s so many options! I’m not sure what you like but take my advice and have a look anyway.

This is definitely the spot for those busy Perthites who peruse… no, not peruse… HUNT for their prey while on their lunch breaks from their sophisticated jobs in our lovely CBD. It’s right across from my mum’s work and we will often pop in for lunch when our timetables merge and we can catch five minutes. Mum will go for the delicate Vietnamese spring rolls. Me? I’m more of a hearty panino girl myself. The atmosphere is eletric and the tills are always hot. But it’s only because they have everything there. Like, everything. Drinks, rolls, pies, chocolates, curries. It’s pretty much the greatest/cheapest/most frenetic place in the city. Good luck getting a table outside, is all I have to say.
