City Beach Surf

The City Beach Surf shop in the city is huge! I always just assumed City Beach only caters to those who are under 21 — but I did see some really tasteful maxi dresses that were well priced from some brands I’ve never seen.
There is also a large range of thongs and well-​priced.

As far as I’m concerned City Beach is just crook. I guess the idea behind it is like Ikea for surf and skate wear/​accessories whatever. And it is really big.
There’s often a DJ playing shit songs and it seems the average age of customers is 15. And the people who work there are annoyingly energetic.
I’m selective with my surf shops and this one, although there’s quite the range, doesn’t cut it.
I’m not sure who is the buyer of the products, or who chooses what to stock but so much of it is rank. I obviously cant comment on the chicks range but the majority of dudes stuff has bad logos, colours, cuts, sizing’s or a combo of both.
There is quite a range of accessories like wallets and glasses which may redeem it slightly but still wouldn’t call it great.

I don’t like surf shops. I find no reason to go into them except for when I desperately need a pair of bathers (even then I cringe about having to have ‘Billabong’ stamped across my bottom).
I did love this shop though. I somehow ended up with armfuls of clothes lining up for the change rooms. It wasn’t your typical surf shop. There was all sorts of clothes, for going out stuff, too casual but cool day wear. It wasn’t just surf brands either, there were heaps of other brands and it was all reasonably priced! I ended up narrowing down my pile to a beautiful lacy corset that I have worn many times.
The shop itself is massive, two levels that are both enormous. There was also a platform in between were you could play a dancing video game– strange, but slightly cool. Apart from the clothes I liked the random stuff they sold there. You could buy a cooler bag that had Ipod speakers in it (how perfect is that for the beach!) and awesome headphones and Iphone cases.
Never in my life have I recommended going to a surf shop, but here is an exception to the rule!
