This was my local coffee shop for years. Unfortunately that was as good as it got. The dinner I had once was the fattiest, undercooked piece of steak ever. Poor attitude by the staff also. They are known for their high tea and functions. I attended a charity function and thought the food was tasteless and hardly warn. Takeaway wraps are ok, but the coffee is the best thing in my view(but not a destination in itself).

Upon entering all you see is a gift shop before you. You have to pass through this on the way both in and out. It’s filled with signs, trinkets, frames, clocks and knicknacks etc, and there’s more lining every centimeter of the walls of the main dining area. All of it items for sale, all of which wouldn’t be out of place in Typo. The mood and feel they’re very much going for is sunday markets kitsch and young family with no taste and no impulse control. Once you realise you’re actually in the main dining area and no longer in the gift shop, I found the downstairs eating area quite stuffy and in need of some fresh air. The walls seemed to amplify the ambient noise from other tables to uncomfortable levels despite not even being half full during our visit. The food, I’d prefer to give it a second try before committing. My chicken avocado main looked better than it tasted, however I suspect it was mostly let down by an under-ripe avocado. Once I set that aside the main portion of my dish was quite good indeed. The salad that came with it unfortunately also let the dish down. It was nothing more than a pub style separate standalone bowl of leafy greens which didn’t work with the meal at all. The service staff are amazing though. Quite friendly and genuinely looking eager to ensure everything is ok. I always like it when a business tries to get all meals out at roughly the same time, and this business goes to extra effort to ensure all dishes not only do that, but actually hit the table together. I wanted to like this place, but overall was very underwhelmed.
